i just had a heroic victory as my main roman general i killed soemthing like 5000+ gauls yet i didnt even get one command star? so what i was wondering was whats the best way to "bring up" your generals to make them awesome?

Even so sometimes when u do it your self u wont get a star, kinda thought RS 1.6 was better in that u actuly got those stars quik.

Not nessacarily, AR gives units more xp and more casualties.Agree about the Heroics though.

bridge battles. Chase down the routing enemy across the bridge for a retarded amount of kills. Your general will need to do quite a bit of killing himself to not only get experience but also command stars (and to avoid the dreaded "Coward" trait, unless you've installed the hotfix)
