Default Long time before recruitment .

DLV 6.2 + latest version of BB

Game begins and you cannot recruit any units for like 20 some even 30 turns. Why was it done like that? To develop the economy? I don't remember that feature in previous versions of DLV. I have even tried to group up some of the forces that are given to you in the beginning of the game and attack a city, I did that, next turn all of my cities ( played as France ) were attacked by rebel armies. And I have lost the game. I am a bit confused was it designed to be like that or something in my installation is corrupt? Thanks.

Read the first post on Taiji's thread in the Minimods forum. It's a 'Defense Spending' script that allows you to adjust how fast and how many units you can recruit. And yes, it often takes a while to get new units, but that gives you time to develop your economy and figure out where is best to expand or defend.
It also prevents the spamming of armies in the mid and late game periods, as other mods seem to allow dozens of standing armies. DLV+BB is meant to be hard, and trust me when I say that you can get through it. Defend your cities, build your economy, get trade rights, send out merchants, disband some units if you have to do that. You can increase your Defense Spending level via the settlement adviser button, but it will cost you money you probably don't have. But as you build up, you can go from level 1 all the way to level 5, or anywhere in between, and really have units becoming available. It kinda represents the investments in logistics, training, supplying/equipping and recruiting your men, as all medieval states often faced the challenge of raising and arming large forces to protect their sovereignty.

It's annoying though that once you go up a level, you can't go back down

Yes you can, you just have to go back up through the levels. i.e., you go from level 5 to level 1, and then to the level you want.

    TQ
