What is your ideal medieval army and why?

I know this is not a scholarly discussion, but I am just curious about the perfect medieval army in your opinion? (Also, say what will the army be composed of what units from which factions? An example is stated below in case you don't understand what I mean ).

My ideal medieval army would be composed of Mongol warriors (cavalry and infantry) as well as Samurai (also cavalry and infantry). Reasons: Speed, Mobility, and Strength all in one!!!!!

What happens if you're fighting Moorish camel gunners?

My ideal army would consist of Retiune Longbows, Dragoons, Vangrian Guard, JHI (main line), Naffutan, Elephant Cannons, and Conquistadors, all led by Hernan Cortes and his 3 hp bodyguard.

Alternatively, use some sort of heavy infantry instead of JHI if they aren't "fixed."

If the cavalry are Jinetes, then yes. Elephants are easy meat for javelins.

Why do you have a single unit of crossbowmen stuck out in front of everything else?

A single unit of skirmishers to draw in their cavalry and lead them to the pikes, and deal with other skirmishers?

A ~12 units of pikemen and musketeers, supported by some reiters, ~3 batteries of serpentines and some armored heavy infantry (to protect the artillery). That would be the best army, in my opinion.

One wing is defensive, the other offensive. Armed Pikes and Janissaries in the middle cause they are not vulnerable to missles. The middle is musketeers of course.

A frontline consisting of the peasantry, mostly spearmen. On their flanks are the heavy knights, shining in their awesome armour. Behind the frontline would be the beast heavy infantry, my personal favourite class. After that would be the general, assorted siege equipment. Oh and crossbows up front. I love it Feudal West is my fave so far. Heavy Infantry all the way.

Russian Cossacks in a long thin line, behind them an overlapped pike line of Aventuros in front and noble pikemen behind them. Venetian Heavy Infantry behind the pikes, ready to move in as soon as the enemy reaches melee range and the Cossacks retreat to behind the pikes. Tsar's Guards at the flanks with a unit of Varangian Guard and Serpentine artillery near each cavalry grouping.

wrong, peasants will be counter productive, the horseys need to be impaled on my pikes not pathetic little peasants!
