    Default The Economic System and Buildings

    Okay, I'm playing with Parthia (H/H) and I have plenty of cities and a very nominal army but I'm still not making enough money every turn.

    Does constructing some buildings decrease your tax revenue? Also, what's the best economic build in my settlements? How do I make the monies?

    Building all kinds of economic buildings....
    only the cumulative sum of these buildings will grant the big moneys

    1. Markets
    2. Roads
    3. Ports
    4. Tax Buildings
    5. Production Buildings
    6. Mines
    7. Economic Temples
    8. Trade Temples

    To counter corruption and the tax loss built the law temple tree
    Good Governors make a huge difference too

    Reading the building descriptions in the building browser helps a lot

    I'm sure some vets could tell you more or argue this, but a few tips specific to this mod:

    - Trade is much, much less important in this mod compared to vanilla and other mods (compared to tax).
    - Use population growth measures to increase the taxable population.
    - Build the economic region upgrade (duh). Expensive but worth it. Also unlocks further economic buildings.
    - Buildings in the market building tree alone are expensive and seem lame. But they seem to synergize with the trade resource buildings (wine vineyards, salt, etc)
    - Most public order and public health buildings reduce taxable income, try to avoid them if you can afford to, especially in your core cities.
    - Capturing cities with treasuries (mostly capitals) is worth it.

    You will be surprised trade can make 25%-30% of your overall income with the right infrastructure in place (advanced roads, markets, ports) and with the trade temple tree build and a good governor it can become up to 50% of a citys total income when its a port city

    This will be leveled in patch 2.2 if I remember correctly...as for now yes its worth it

    You're right trade can potentially get quite high, I have seen cities like Carthage and Syracuse get over several thousand in income from trade.

    Perhaps it would be more correct to say trade isn't so...instant? It needs to be built up and worked on - in vanilla RTW essentially all you needed to get started for immediate high trade was infrastructure - dockyards and roads. The system in RSII is definitely more complex and refined.

    Build only cheap HA until your flush with cash and build buildings with +Tax bonuses.
