You've got 150 bucks....what card do you buy?
Hi everyone, well I am wondering which video card would be the best bang for buck for under $150. I was thinking about the ATI X1300 Pro, because I hear it is great for video encoding, and gaming. Also I have a PCI Express motherboard. This is my system http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...849&pfp=SEARCH except I actually have 2GB of ram in mine. This is the card I was interested in http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...439&pfp=BROWSE Any advice would be great. because I am getting one later today.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130250 for under $150 you will be hard pressed to find a better NVIDIA card.
For ATI, possibly this

Edit: Though personally I'd recommend going a cheap 6800GT for NVIDIA cards such as this

its refurbished, but its only $30 more for a quite market performance increase (its exactly the same card as Ive got and my computer plays every current game at the highest specs, though Ive overclocked it a bit.

Thank you for the replies, but I heard that even though the X1300 Pro isn't as fast as other cards, it can decode 20-30% faster than other cards, and that the X1000 series are also future proof for decoding and other things. And that the new 6.2 drivers are also optimizing the X1000 series and the dual core processors.

Well here's a review if you want to know the numbers.
The card I recomended is roughly the same as a 6800GT.

The X1300 is a piece of crap, for $150 get the 6800GS Proximus recommended. Also do NOT buy computer hardware in stores, you are basically getting riped off. You can find a X1300 at newegg for $80 or cheaper. I bought my X1600 Pro at newegg for only $120.
Anyways, get the 6800GS, its the best bang for the buck right now, and for only $154 after rebate its a steal. You can play ALL the games on the market right now at 1280 x 1024 on max settings with that card and still have room for more.

Nice spot by Proximus, I'd recommend the GS as well, if I'd found it (should of searched rebates better) I would posted it isntead of the refurbished GT.
And as Incinerate said, computer stores are a rip, they don't have the buying power to offer good deals, either buy online or (if they have them near you) go to a computer fair.
