Default How to enable my custom captain/general

Hi, maybe this was answered a long time ago and sorry if that's the case. I was just wondering how can I make a captain/general that I made myself.

Maybe someone can point me to the right tutorial or thread if possible, or just answer what I'm talking about right here. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you mean by custom captain/general. Did you edit ... text? graphics? models? sounds?

Then you're in the wrong forum, I think --- try the Skins, Models, and Animations subforum first.

This is not the wrong forum.... lol....
You've already created your model, now you have to create the entry in the battle_models.
Thats precisely in the right forum mate.

So you're going to go into the battle_models, and just press control+F to enable the search function and look up "captain"
Copy one of the entries, change it to whichever factions you need it to be on and call it that faction's captain. Then change the models and textures and such.
After that, go into the "descr_character", find whichever faction you intend to use it for's captain, and change it to whichever name is yours. Example:

Say i'm going to change norway's captain model. I'd search up norwegian_captain, and i'd find this entree.
    faction norway
    dictionary 2
    strat_model northern_captain
    battle_model norwegian_captain
battle_equip gladius, chainmail shirt helmet and rectangular shield
    So I would change
    battle_model norwegian_captain
    to
    battle_model viking_captain

    Lol... I knew it.

Thanks heathen, I guess those 2 txt files are the only ones that should be changed then. But maybe say that I'm on the campaign map already. What unit will be selected as the general's bodyguard? I already assigned a model with the attribute "general_unit"... will that unit be the default bodyguard unit? Or I have to alter some .txt files related to the campaign?

Thanks again man, I just want to send the faction to Shrod in a more complete state in order to avoid some complications if things doesn't work out right.

And before I forget... I'm gonna give you +rep once twc allows me to. Cheers

A faction's default general's bodyguard unit is the first one that appears in export_descr_unit with the general_unit attribute. So put your new general unit near the top of the file and you should be good to go. This won't change existing generals though. It will only give new generals that spawn the new bodyguard unit.
