Complete freeze on startup

Been trying to get Shogun 2 to run for a couple days now and can't seem to get anything to work so I thought I'd try here.

I've reinstalled, updated audio/graphics drivers, verified file data through steam and everything checks out but still nothing.

Basically I fire it up and it gets to the initial copyright screen and just freezes my comp completely (can't tab out, esc, or alt+F4, pretty much forced to hard reset)

did you verify the games files through steam? right click on the game in your steam library and go to properties, then local files, then click verify integrity of game cache.

we have an almost identical system with exception of our processors and my copy runs fine.

Try downgrading the video drivers to this one: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ati_catalyst_xp/7619/ If that doesnt work, upgrade to the 11.3 on the same page. Then update your realtek drivers here, they are old on your computer: http://218.210.127.131/downloads/dow...&GetDown=false then try the game again.
