A missed opportunity?

I was watching the intro for S2TW just now and realized the CA may have missed a pretty cool opportunity in this game.

I would have loved to be able to have a hero unit go out in front of my army and have a fight, man to man, against the other armies hero. Now was this discussed and dismissed by CA? I would have thought this would have been better for marketing then ninjas and metsuke and such. Having an agent who you can call on to win battles for you is a pretty neat thing. The skill tree could have the same effect for this agent as well, the more duels he wins the more experience he gets. If your man lost you would have to retreat, and if you attacked anyway you would have a massive loss of honour.

Now I havent gotten to the point in shogun where I have had the chance to train hero units so I dont know if they fill this role. I haven't heard any talk of it on these forums or otherwise, so Im guessing not.

Has this been discussed before, and if not, what are your thoughts on it?

I would have loved this too. In fact it was asked for a long, long time ago and 5 years later we still don`t have it. I can`t see what`s so hard in having ONE hero (or chosen soldier) face another enemy hero on the battle map (with zoooming in) and just watching to see who wins. the Player can choose whether or not to accept with the winner`s army gaining a small moral boost.

Yea, but if it did happen, it should be possible for it to happen in game too, if rarely. Maybe allow the AI army to only offer\accept such a challenge once in 50 battles or so.
