Russian builds

I wanted to try playing with a few of the minor/less popular nations and i was wondering if the forums had any suggested builds or advice regarding Russia. I hardly come up against players using it if the art is banned so i haven't gained a sense of what is successful from watching them. Any ideas? Do i need to look at a rush build so as to make the most out of those charge bonuses?

yh, i always use a no lights rush build with 4 guards 5 lines 2 militia and rest shooter cav, this seems to work well in large and med settings. Also Kras and some others love the old russian melee builds with some grens and lots of lines. I really dont usual see anyone playing with lights.

thanks Rattue. That's really helpful. I shall start experimenting. I think i'm normally a pretty cautious player so it would be good to develop some more aggressive tactics.

i hate playing aganst russia. they are hard to break and u really need to keep ur distance from them if u can. cos if they melee u. ur in big trouble..

The reason no one likes to play them is because without Unicorns they only have normal cannons and the terribad experimental howitzers. They get outshot in the artillery battle which means they'll get outshot in the infantry battle with means they'll lose the cav battle so on so forth.

Russian militia /lights has a charge of 14, Line a charge of 19 and Grenadiers a charge of 26. In addition they have higher morale and slightly better melee stats than others. They have cheap shooting cavalry with increased cahrge as well. They have the cheapest lancers in the game. They have "inspirational" Grenadiers and their Guards are really good.

I always take 4 guards as a rule of thumb with russia when playing large funds.
