    Default Army formations?

So, can anyone give me some insight regarding army formations? I see there are attack/defence and cavalry/infantry combinations, but how exactly does this make any difference in a fight?
Plus, is it worth using these formations or it's better to make several small groups/micro each unit?

    Thanks in advance

Well, basically, they're just guidelines of some battle formations used in those times regarding what might be suited to what your position in before battle.

As per usual, they are useless. Better off making groups yourself and positioning them for maximum effect, unless you think having one control group with all your units in it is at all helpful.

I would say they are good. If you have a lot of infantry for example then go infantry heavy attack or defense and so on. I tend to use them a lot. But when battle starts then my units normally gets regrouped throwout the battle for hotkeys.
