In the middle of an epic campaign at the moment.
I am the Chosokabe clan, and after unifying Shikoku and Kyushu, we expanded into the heartland, culminating in a huge siege at Kyoto and the fall of the Ashikaga.
This is where the game got really interesting.
Realm Divide occurred, and Japan went from a bunch of self serving small clans fighting small wars, to being split right down the middle. Everyone west of Kyoto has supported me as Shogun (Amako, Tsuitsui and Tokugawa)
While those in the east have unified under the Date (Honma, Imagawa, Takeda).
This is now a true civil war, east vs west.
The war began with the small clans in the centre vying for power, backed up by the two main players (us and Date) committing naval forces and ninjas. However we have now repelled the smaller clans and are now advancing against the Date.
And wow are they hard to fight, their provinces are huge, so attrition takes a real hit each time I advance.
Also due to the size of their provinces, they frequently circle around my campaign armies and hit my garrisons, or armies in the rear.
Furthermore they are sending human waves, they sent four attacks against a northern province I captured from them, all were repelled ( in part due to my expert bowmen). In one battle alone they lost 4000 men.
We are progressing, but they are not showing any signs of weakening.
All in all a great campaign!
