    Default Bacchus or Jupiter

I just started the House of Julii, Imperial Campaign, in Vanilla RTW, patched to 1.5. I was just wondering which Shrine to get, Bacchus or Jupiter

Bacchus: Public Order Due to Happiness: 10%
Jupiter: Public Order Due to Happiness: 5%
Public Order due to Law: 5%

They give the same Public order bonus, but is there any other difference? Such as later on in the game when I get temples instead of Shrines? Or is it all the same, for every temple upgrade?

Thanks for reading, and hopefully answering my question.

Before building a temple in a settlement, click on the building browser. Down at he bottom you will be able to see what bonuses each of the temples will give you at each level. I tend to go with bacchus, but thats because of the way i play the game.

I have another question, I might aswell ask it here.

What are the different buildings that give Population Growth bonus?

The only one I can think of is a temple, yet I need exactly 8% Population Growth bonus, because at 24,000 population (huge city) the squalor penalty is -8% to population growth, meaning that the city will stop growing because my 8% from buildings cancels out the squalor penalty to make a population growth of 0%. Therefore the city stops growing, which is what I want, because if it keeps growing, squalor gets bigger which becomes very bad.

Anyways, I need to know the different buildings that give population growth bonus. I checked the building browser, and could only find Temple.

Other than taxes and buildings, what other methods are there that can increase population growth?

    Build farms, roads, and traders.

I looked at farms and roads, it doesn't mention any population growth.

    Default Bacchus or Jupiter

I don't build temples of Bacchus anymore, as any governor in that settlement quickly acquires the drunkard trait. Temples of Jupiter are much better for keeping public order. Temples of Ceres can be useful, especially in Germania where they can be upgraded from shrines to Freyja.

Farms give 0.5 pop growth bonus for every level you build. So, Communal Farming gives 1.0% growth bonus from farming upgrades. Roads increase movement points, Paved Roads and Highways increase both movement points and trade.

Any building that gives a law bonus can help in cutting down corruption in a city (the little hand over coins icon you see on the line that shows what a settlement is paying for).

    go for jupiter!!!
The law bonus will reduce corruption too, while happiness do not do anything more than public order (if at least that could reduce the rebels, tsss...).

Early game I go for Ceres, for the fertility boost to the family.

Mid-game, as I'm conquering away, I build Jupiter to keep order.

Late game, I will build Bacchus if it's a particularly unruly province (Germany, England, Jerusalem) and I don't intend on keeping a family member there. Otherwise he's a corrupt, decadent drunkard in no time. The rest get Jupiter.

Very bad combination of temples and I wish Bacchus could do something useful. But Jupiter does the job, you get a priest that will benefit your governor's management capability and will reduce corruption. Otherwise with Bacchus he would become a drunkard... Perhaps is there a way to mod it?
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

I have not built any farming upgrades yet, yet my population growth is +3 or somewhere around there, from farming alone. Why is that?

Some areas are naturally fertile. Others, like the deserts of Africa, are not. You can build pretty elaborate farm upgrades in much of Africa without having a very high farming bonus at all (this does not apply to the Nile Valley, obviously).

Well, the land of the settlement may have medium/high fertility already, so you don't really need farms in those settlements. Also, some cities come with a certain level of farming already, so you'll have to check to see which level your city has. (By upgrades I assume you mean that the city already has some level of farming on it) I also won't recommend that you upgrade your farms for the high growth regions because they cannot be destroyed and can make the settlement harder to maintain as its population reaches 20,000+.

Regardless of the type of farming building I have, the population growth bonus depends on the fertility level of the province. At least that's what I understand. But, does that mean that the population growth bonus due to farming, will remain the same throughout the game, or can it change?

Farming increases the population growth, so while this may help with smaller settlements it becomes a pain as they increase in size because farming is permanent. That's why I never go past the second level of farming. (Although sometimes the AI upgrades to the highest level in cities I conquer, )

I never find farming a problem and most of my cities are using irrigation and about to upgrade to Latifundia. Pop growth evens itself out after a while and I need the growth to get to huge city in the first place.
