Default Is it possible to trade towns?

Is it possible to trade towns in Shogun 2 without bribing?

I have a campaign as the Hattori and I'm allied with the Hojo. We are both at war with the Tokugawa and I took all of their settlements accept for their last one which was the old Hojo capital. I've already over-extened myself and I really don't want or need it so I've been waiting for the Hojo to take it back because they have this huge army right there. The problem is that they won't take it and the Tokugawa keep attacking me from it.

I'm getting really sick of it so I was wondering whether or not I can take their last settlement and just sell it to the Hojo. I don't want the settlement but the Hojo just won't take it.

    Thanks.

I always find it interesting when sometimes the AI enemy refuses to take a city. It`s like he thinks, `This must be a trap!` and he won`t bite!

I had this problem with a bridge battle, he just wouldn`t take me on the bridge. Not a bad thing, I think it`s pretty neat.

What's Hojo's military strength? U might need to keep a stack parked next to the town for a good while until Hojo attacks the settlement and u can assist there army in the takeover.

Put the town under siege, then wait for the Hojo to attack. If they don't then the Tokugawa should sally forth.

During the sally battle put your men right near the red line, and fight the Tokugawa until you are about to win, decimating them as much as possible without breaking their entire army, then have your entire army retreat. It will count as a Tokugawa victory, relieve the siege, but in reality it will just weaken the Tokugawa.

At some point the Hojo should just attack. Make sure they didn't make peace...

They are very powerful. They have about 10 provinces and a full stack right next to the Tokugawa capital, they just won't attack though.

They are at war with them and I've tried weakening them but the Hojo do absolutely nothing. The Tokugawa like to take their army and park it right outside their city. I've destroyed the army a few times but the Hojo do nothing even though the city has no garrison and they have a masssive army in the area.

An Idea I had was to take the city, sack it, and just wait for it to rebel so the Hojo can take it. Would this work or would it either:
    > Rebel and become Tokugawan?
    or
    >Rebel and Hojo still sit there and do nothing?

It should turn into a standard rebel settlement. However, if there is a Tokugawa stack wandering around outside of the settlement and you wipe out their faction, the stack will become a Tokugawa rebel stack, and those can bring the faction back to life.

Also, Hojo might ignore the rebel town completely if they are still at war with other AI factions. I'd try Heartfire's suggestion, might just do the trick
