Default Kept Ally through Realm Divide

N/N difficulty, vanilla, playing as chosokobe and just got to realm divide with date as my allies luckily they are at the other end of japan but it hadnt been very long since we became allies. i had payed them at one point 20000 for a trade agreement and had married into their family.... so everyone declares war on me and i ask date for help and they agree to go to war with everyone else and stay allies with me. I was shocked we are still very friendly and everything.

    Anyone else have this happen?

Yes, I seem to keep allies that have over +200 disposition towards me. Seem like anything lower than 200 is probably going to stab you in the back.

Where do you find these numbers, all I see is friendly, very friendy, indifferent, hostile...but no numbers that would indicate a +200 or -30 etc.

mouse over the relations, info pops up, this can also be done over potential trade partners, to find out the value of trade with them.

How exactly is it that all of Japan hates you and yet, you are allied with everybody and nobody is at war with you?

I just finished a thrilling campaign as the Tokugawa on N/N - kept the Tsutsui and the Kitabatake as allies past the realm divide and a war that lasted 10+ years, though they got a little annoyed with me @ the end - but their loyalty never strayed below a +49. The Tsutsui finished with +89 attitude towards us.

My daimyo maintained a good rep. throughout and that must have really helped.

I kept 2 large armies near their territories as insurance policies in case of betrayal and both clans were attached to me by marriage; two of my best generals were their sons-in-law. That probably is what kept them in line. They were very helpful in terms of trade and the Kitabatake sent fleets to help subdue the western provinces. Very cool.

Building alliances, then dishonoring alliances when a more useful ally attacks a less useful ally...AI doesn't like the idea of tempting war against the huge alliance block.

Last night playing Chosokabe I manage to retain my allies Hojo, Imagawa and Date until the end after RD since they started quite high through trade point and long term marriage/alliances.

After RD happened I though all going to turn against me suddenly but only their points reduce. Since I have loads of koku I paid each clans 1000 koku for 10 years and they always stays on the good side.

Got to restart prior to RD though as I short one province (39 out of 40) to actually win the game...

I must be doing something wrong since everyone and their 1 month old puppy turned against me!

I`ve never paid anyone 20000 koku, guess that`s it.

H/H difficulty and my ally are sticking with me through thick and thin, even assisting with the blockades and rebellions! Loads of little clans have declared war on me, but they're so weak compared to the mighty Takeda as to be entirely insignificant. Insignificant insects if you like.

Seem to have kept 3 allies after the Realm Divide, because I have read prior to aquiring too much power this forum, and people advised me to stay prepared for the Realm Divide, which I did.
I think even if the 3 allies (1 was that minor island off the coast, forget those clan names, sorry) would have stabed me in the back, I would still be a formidable enemy, seeing that i had like 40% of Japan and the good bits too

I had many campaigns when allies stayed with me through Realm Divide. Things you should do:
    - marry
    - ally
    - give a hostage every now and then when signing a new deal
    - never, ever, ever break any treaties, it will give a negative mod even with your allies

Last campaign was with Mori and I had Ouchi (starting allies with Suo and Nagato provinces) doing surprisingly well. At one point, they took out all the small clans between their starting point in Eastern Honshu and Kyoto! I took out the gold mine and sailing speciality provinces, signed peace with neighbours instead of continuing east since most of these provinces are poor, until you hit Settsu and that might take you over the Realm Divide limit on a short campaign. Instead, took out all of Kyushu with a two pronged naval invasion, captured a black ship, invaded Sado and sat on 12 provinces, building economy. Declared war on Asai which blobbed massively in central Japan and took Kyoto from Ashikaga. Ouchi stayed with me and we went to war together against the rest of Japan. Made my heart break, when I realised that my allies took two of my victory conditions provinces when they disposed of Amako all those years back. Instead of backstabbing them, I allowed the time limit to pass. I guess I'll play another Mori campaign one day to get the victory achievement with them. I had other examples of allies staying with me through Realm Divide (sometimes multiple allies), but this one is most recent and also my most successful ally, which rose to prominence from an unlikely position using a combination of military access through my territory and naval invasions. It is difficult to keep more than 3 allies through Realm Divide though since marriage and hostages are very high modifiers and you are limited when it comes to those resources.

The problem is, trade gets broken every now and then for no reason - and hey presto - you've got a 'dishonoured treaty'. No diplomatics, no negotiations - just the can't trade any more pop up.

I thought that happened if the faction you were trading with was getting destroyed in a war and was losing trade routes and whatnot, at least that's what i tell my self anyway.

Yep, If the faction your trading with looses a province with a port that happens to be the one used to trade with you, you get shafted with some minus points

played on normal, got two largest (together, we prolly owned about 35-40 provinces) clans to ally with me fairly easily, just before the divide (one of them actually hated me for a long time). They were quite friendly but nowhere close to 100, let alone 200... still they stayed with me and continued to trade. No marriages, not gifts, no nothing, just straight military alliance and trade... and even that was relatively recent. I did up my damyo's honor through research though so that probably helped quite a bit

Dam how did you get so much trade?

the main way ive had to do it is when a faction DOWs me i kill all their armies but dont take all their regions then they ask for peace and i give it only with a trade agreement, ive only been able to get trade once without doing that and that was when i paid date 20000 but trust me it was worth it i made that money back in 3 turns
