    Default Scouting in Brittany.

A advanced part of fifty men landed in Brittany led by Nigel Loring. They were sent to find out the dispositions of the French army.. and see if they could find any Breton loyalists.

After weeks of operations in the area... Three hundred weary ex-brittany warriors are assembled... Eager to fight...

The scouts welcomed the band of Bretons. The Scouts withdrew a small cove near the coast, doing their best to nibble away at French patrols and supply columns.

There they awaited the main body of forces.

The Conditions were as ready as they could be. The main landing was coming, now only to see if the French fleet would interfere.

OOC: I forget one this one, do we need to fight a naval engagement or can I land?

The main body of the Duke's forces landed on the shores of Brittany. They linked up with the remaining Bretons and secured the closest port. The French had not yet heavily garrisoned the area and the English were mostly welcomed by the Bretons. The Duke prepared for a deeper strike into Brittany soon.

The Archbishop of Canterbury arrived to ensure that the ensuing conflict remained a just war.

The Duke met the Archbishop beside the moving column on soldiers.

"Archbishop, welcome to Brittany. I had not heard thou were coming."

Axel nodded respectfully to the Duke.

With a war against Catholic nations during a Crusade I feel that the men need to be kept in line...

The Duke shifted slightly in annoyance,

"And do thou think my men are disorderly?"

    The Archbishop smiled.

I have travelled with armies before, even those that call themselves soldiers of God. Such environments are prone to bringing out the worst in men.

"I see. Do thou have any needs, Archbishop? Food, supplies or guards?"

    Axel shook his head.

Thank you for your offer, but I have need of little. I have sent word to the Order of St David, I feel that they may think themselves neglected lately so they shall be acting as my guards when they arrive. However, I have walked far, perhaps you could direct me to your camp followers, the soles of my boots are wearing thin.

Roland Mansell follows the Archbishop with the only 5 remaining Knights of St. David. Lack of funding meant most had deserted before they had even left England.

OOC: Lol explain that to the Danish bloke who's rather laissez-faire about money.

Axel noticed the distinctive Knights and raised a hand in greeting.

The Duke nodded and took his leave from the Archbishop.

By a few days later, the column had reached Nantes. It appeared that no French resistance had presented itself. A messenger was sent to the city gates to inquire as to its ownership.

The English reentered the city of Nantes after the few remaining French were... disposed of by the locals. The Breton flag flew equal with that of England's. Nottingham's next that.

The Duke called for a council of his commanders.

Sixteen thousand of the French in Brittany are seen marching towards Nantes. It will be a mere day before they arrive to retake the city.

Upon receiving word of the overwhelming force approaching, the Duke pulled his men out of Nantes, leaving a few Bretons spies inside. Without relief or aid from England, he knew he could not hold the city. The troops moved towards the coast, staying to wooded areas.

A mesenger arrives with a hastily scrawled note

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Dear Duke Wilson

I have landed in Southern Gascony and take town of Bayonne. I have really 10,000 men marching north towards Bourduex, I would suggest you march south and link up with my army there and we can take the city and smash the french army
