It might be an immersion breaker for Scandinavian players, however. For some of us it would be like suddenly hearing something from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack in the middle of a battle, it would just feel very out of place.

Sweden has a few bands that uses medieval instruments. Check out the band called Patrask. You might find something to use in game. A few months ago you could download all of their music for free from their site but it seems like it's down. They have a quite varied sound and you'll probably find music for battle, mobilize and events.

Dots should definitly use some songs from them.

Not exactly Medieval music but a Swedish march nonetheless...Hope you like it.
I monitored that conversation for quite a while and I'm surprised to see that only few aggressiv and atmospheric songs have been posted so far. I usually like to listen to dark ambient music and think that some songs from Nox Arcana would fit quite well.

Some Metal bands have "folk only" songs on their albums. You have to look out for them. Gillevisan and segervisa of Ma°negarm come to my mind. Great songs!
Honestly the idea of "Manly Scandinavian Music" is a modern invention, in fact and in real life the Vikings danced with their wives to the same soft folk music as anyone else. As for a cool Norse music to go off raiding to, this is not the opera.
just get enisferum music haha.
Hi all. After going through this thread I've decided to use the band Patrask for the Scandinavian battle music. They use authentic or very nearly authentic instruments. Their music is played in quite a boisterous way and they are all guys which fits with the generally all male environment of a battlefield. Their music could realistically have been played in a camp by a bunch of local musicians who may or may not be conscripted or otherwise volunteer to fight in a battle.

I think that a mix of viking and regular european medieval music would be perfect.
Viking music(I know many have posted this exact video before):

And some medieval music, more fitting for the campaign map:

I do not agree to adding finnish music to Sweden, the languages and culture are not very similar at all.

As you can see there is a large difference and finnish music would make it feel like you are playing as finland.
Also, Swedish culture changed quite a bit when Sweden became christian, so not to have to much viking stuff.
