my gpu is on its path to Ade

ok,my 8800 gt has 2 years of glorious life now,it is still more than enough for my 1680x1050 res but in the last weeks it is affected by artifacts ingame...checked everything from heat to drivers to dx but no cure...

given this bad situation,I am lurking here to have info about what should I do now;my goal is a new gpu and a new high-quality psu,so here my choices:

psu-enermax 620W
gpu-nvidia gtx 260 216 rop

prices?(in europe)

or if thats too much

GTX460 for 200

EDIT:no idea on European prices but the 260 is obsolete in either case and cost around the same as those two before they stopped selling them

If you end up getting the 560 Ti, dont get the EGVA, but get the MSI N560 Ti Twin Frozr II for the same price. It would run like 20c cooler.

Depends upon your resolution.

EVGA is only good in North America. When you're in North America, EVGA is a top class brand.

Outside of North America, it's an overpriced reference card.

Seeing as the OP is from Italy, Twin Frozr MSI > EVGA.

Either the GTX 460 or GTX 560 will be fine for your system, OP. Both will work.

Often I see people gaming at like 1440x900, but there buying high end cards.

It makes no sense.

For the res you game at, a mid range GTX 400 series is more than enough or a 6850 which are cheap but good cards.
