Need help - TWSW2 bombbs out after 30mins of play - black screen followed by white screen and stuck sound

Hello there,

Apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place.

I have a Sony Vaio FW Core 2 Duo P8700 @2.53Ghzwith 6GB of RAM , 1GB on an ATI Mobility RADEON 4650 running the latest drivers and Windows 7 Home 64Bit.

I purchased the game as a retail box from PC World in the UK.

This is what happens:

1) Game loads and presents the menu screens.
2) After selecting a battle mode, it plays the for around 30mins, sometimes less
3) Then the screen goes black, followed by a whitening effect ( a bit like the background for the load screen)
4) Machine locks completely - only way out is a hardware reset.

i have tried all the graphics modes - and it does exactly the same.

It also does this when in the menu screen. Though usually only when preparing for a custom battle.

I have no idea why it's doing this and would welcome some suggestions.

P.S What I've played of it so far, I've loved. It's just annoying it bombs in the middle of battles

Do you have RealTek sound on it?

Update the drivers. Odds are yours are conflicting.

Windows thinks the drivers are up to date - i'll try the Realtek website. Sonys tend to be a pain in the arse when it comes to drivers as they mess with them. The Vaio update programme seems to be working fine and posting latests drivers. I'll have a look anyway. Could it be anything else?

a quick note - I did have issues installing the game by the way. For some reason it decided to start downloading the game from Steam and not installing from the DVDs I bought. I unsitalled and re-installed using "steam -install E:" and it all went fine. could this be a reason for the screw ups?

Verify your game cache should find any download problems.

Overheat? You are gaming on a laptop. Its possible.

Overheating is definitely a possibility. Where does the laptop sit. Sitting on your lap, bed or any soft surfaces can cause overheating. Try a desk and every so often turn the laptop upside down for a couple minutes to expell the hot air. If this makes the game last longer before the crash, then I woul say overheating is the only issue you have and all other issues are because of the overheating.

They do make cooling pads for laptops. If it is overheating, possibly a good investment.
