It has worked for me. If you fail, reload, then fail again, I discovered that you will continue to fail. You basically have two tries with the reload.
I'm pretty sure the random seed is saved. Your best bet if you want to reload and try again is to do things that require a random number in a different order- ie have a monk try and demoralize to get the bad seed out of the way and then try your super important assassination.
Mind you, I don't do this, but that's the general mechanics of how 'random' numbers work in games.
This was true for M2TW but not for Shogun; I've reloaded and tested it and you can get different results from the same save game without doing anything different.
So yeah its pretty cheap, but I think we all do itOne thing you might want to consider, however, is that even if you fail, your agent still gets XP, so its not all bad to fail.
You can also reduce your standing with other clans by failing to sabotage, which can be useful if you want someone to go to war with you but don't want to (or can't if you're playing Tokugawa) declare war. Bit cheap really how you can skip most alliances by just making the AI clan hate you enough to declare war.
lol thats what I loved to do back in M2TW. I just parked like 1 town militia near a neghbours town that I knew I would attack soon and let our relations degrade until they declared war. Then, I just whipped up the fury of godThis way I would not lose relations with other guys by starting wars.
