    Icon4 DX11 Delayed

I found this posted on the official STW2 site, doesn't sound good.

    "Hi guys,

We're still working very hard on fixes for a number of issues - we'll be updating the timescales on the official patch thread (see news and annoucements) in the next couple of days.

    Thanks,

    Craig."

Is it me or are there a bunch of crybabies on that forum? I'm glad I have this forum where I can have intelligent conversations with some people.

CA, take your time. Just make sure the patch isn't a letdown.

    Yeah i agree..
Take your time CA, id prefer gameplay improvements in a patch over graphical anyways but, there you go.

Completely agree, they should deliver it in working condition only.

But do you understand that some people bought the game expecting the could rely on the assurance of Craig and Lusted regarding the timeframe they gave? And that those people now feel a bit pissed?

I honestly couldn't gauge the outcry, I see the same people complaining.

I guess i just dont see the big deal? Why spend half your day every day ranting about directx11, shaders and AA...(dont mean you personally btw)
The majority of people who bought the game, probably dont even have any idea what those things are.

I mean its not like they cant play the game! The game itself is very stable, very enjoyable, largely bug free..we know a patch is coming, question is when. We have people literally counting down the days from an imaginary timetable, getting ready to 'pounce' on CA.. for something that is pretty much superfluous..

I said before i guess graphics are just more important to some people than they are to me (which proved to be a bad idea, as people started attacking me) and at any rate, the game looks bloody awesome to me as it is...

    Meh..

BS. Shogun 2's gameplay is great - and the graphics, AA aside aren't too shabby either.

You know, I came into this thread thinking why would anyone care about graphics when the game plays just fine.

Then I read this, and I got it. Duh. Dunno why I keep forgetting. This isn't a game for a lot of people, it's an extended cinematic of soldiers beating the crap out of one another.

In which case, carry on the fight but with less vitriol please. Those of us playing on Pentium 4s don't get what the fuss is about, but we are kind of sick of the .

Exactly. What would you other twits prefer - a patch that isn't ready, or to wait a bit more? Haven't you ever undertaken something that took a while longer than you originally intended? CA are human beings, not automatons.

actually... i'd prefer a dx11 patch... then a 'game play patch' later when it is finished. dx11 was what was promised in 4 weeks... not any game play elements; thus, saying that you would rather have afinished 'game play... anti bug'd patch' is not applicable...

the patch was suppose to be for dx11... if they can't do it dont make unrealistic promises; CA has made great statements before; like "it will be done soon" or "shortly"... however, they actually stated a timeframe with an exact day/week count. why did they have to create an actual time frame when they have been previously good at being vague???

and lastly... yes, 'they are human beings'... there is no doubt, but because so they will make mistakes... and as we are human beings, we will be critical of other's mistakes...

Maybe they've decided to include some other fixes in it, as well as Dx 11.

They released a game filled with bugs. Whether or not it had as many bugs as Empire or Rome is irrelevant.

They (two different CA reps) gave us a definite timetable for the patch.

They (CA) now say that the patch will be delayed.

It's understandable that people are unhappy, as CA has now reneged on its commitment. And this is laziness on CA's part, nothing less. It likely has nothing at all to do with any desire to make things perfect, but rather simply with the fact that they hardly have anyone allocated to working on patches. I doubt they even have the bug fixes done, because they could easily release those as a separate patch. The existence of Steam and automatic patch downloads completely nullifies any need for big, unified patches. Saying that they'll release everything as one big package is just an excuse for CA.

But hey, how about I sell you a computer that's full of problems, then tell you we'll have someone over to check it out within 2-4 weeks, and then, when that deadline approaches, we inform you that it's going to be an unspecified amount of time later for an unspecified reason? I'm sure you'd be jumping for joy. Remind me to hook you up with a used car salesman I know.
