Pause all the time. This isn't starcraft, I like to make sure my formations are in proper order. The AI reacts as fast as the programming allows.

Slowmotion? Never saw the point. Unless if you want to watch the fights in slowmo I guess.

    Never pause.
"War has witnessed a fool being too quick, but never an expert being too slow." - Sun Zi
(or, in the other translation: "though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays").

Starcraft allows positioning while paused too btw.

Its all about interpretation... he could have also meant: "Beeing too quick is easy, but beeing slow is hard and you can never be slow enough". Victory needs preperation.

Knowing Sun Tzu's writing in general I think Your interpretation is much more likely.

    But wrong nevertheless.
The chapter concernes itself with the need for swiftness and fast decision, you may want to re-read.

I prefer slowmotion over pausing, gives me time to react without interrupting the AI's own reactions

And sometimes i argue in favor of things because i believe in my argument. ( #16 )

Only use slow mo when positioning my troops.

This sounds cool at first, but doesn't it get boring after awhile?

yeah i'll drop the battle to slow mo if i need to do a bit of micro management in a large battle, but most of the time will have it at standard pace

I use slow motion in siege battles sometimes to set up my defense.

Although I am playing against a computer, I feel it's unfair to use.

Plus, it ruins the flow of my battles. I play for immersion, I'll sacrifice some tactical advantages!

the AI can command 20 individual units simultaneously. sure, the player is smarter than the AI, but we can't do that.

i'll definitely whore out the pause button if it's a battle i could easily lose, i.e my ashigaru vs their samurais.

plus, Shogun 2 feels a lot faster than the games we've been playing recently (ETW, NTW). a lot of stuff seems to happen in the 5 seconds you're unpaused.

This is 100% true, but I just have this personal dislike of the feature. It makes the game feel sluggish like it's just jutting around from checkpoint to checkpoint of command rather than smooth fielding.

I only play on hard though, or sometimes Very hard. I could see how it could be necessary for very important tough battles on very hard/legend difficulty.

    I'm a huge immersion whore so I don't use it :3

    Be real.

Surprising to see so much slowmo going around.
Why not just pause alltogether? It's not like it will make any difference in your reaction speed. Nothing significant anyway.

This. Pausing is for noobs and I refuse to be associated with them. Only time I pause is in hotseat campaigns because everyone else does it too.

Damn I sometimes like to pause. Does that mean me and you cant be mates? We could hang out and throw unnecessarily strong comments about peoples opinions, it'd be fun!
