    Default Religion (why)

Does anyone ever get angry at religion

I know it is part of being a good person too accept others beleifs but i cant stand it when someone says that because i dont beleive what he thinks too be true , i must be inferior too him.

normally we can shun such idiotic attitudes and move on with our lives but sometimes people take it upon themselves too judge other people under the pretence of doing what therye religion beleives too be right......

I myself used too be a relatively devout christian buit steadily became less so as i grew up.After coming here and listening too all the voices of wisdom that enhabit these forums  i came too the conclusion that there may or may not be a god or some guiding entity but i should just try and guide my self by morales ,logic and my own scruples ( no morales debating!!!!!).

now i dont try too press my beleifs on others but i think its realy idiotic that people try too guide themselves by beleifs of total strangers just because they think that there may be a higher being.....

Now i dont mean too offend anyone but im going too give and example using christianity.

There are millions if not billions of christians in this world who beleive in the existance of a god and many who guide there beleifs by a book formed by the beleifs of a bunch of other people.

There is no rational backing up for beleiving in a god besides using god too fill in all the unanswered qeustions we have about the universe and everything around us. Over time people have said god did it and then been proven wrong by science and had to change the beleifs so that god still remains a possibility.

When i went into a mennanite school a few years ago for a while i talked too one of the students about evolution and he told me i was wrong, after asking him why he told me i was wrong about evolution he walked over too a book stand and opened a bible too genesis 1 (god creating the earth) and toldme that was his proof.

I then scribbled "no he didnt" on a peice of paper and showed it too the student telling him my scribblings had just as much backing as the bible did.

I was then sent too the principles office were i was lectured on keeping my beleifs too myself........

Let's just hope they were fascist communist kittens who were on their way to international fascist communist fair.

No, I don't ever get angry at religion. Sometimes I get angry at religious people though, like Islamic extremists, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell.

Assuming that is the question you wanted answered, it is the only real question in your post.

Perhapsthats what i mean, but the purpose of this threat is basically too discuss the point of religion and for me too try and see if anyone has any real reasons too beleive in it besides the ol( because i just got a feeling) reason

most people just beleive in religion either out of fear, habit, or simple want for something too beleive in

    Humvee,

Sounds to me life you mistaking confidence in Christ as giving an 'air of superiority' or perhaps you feel intimidated by this confidence. You say at one time you were a devout believer, if so, then you know that it has nothing to do with words written in a book, but rather confidence in the words of God. You seem angry that the believers guide their lives through Christ and his word in stead of the hollow words of some philosphy or rational thought. Why should you care?

I get very angry at religion, often. Then again, I get angry at most people/things that occupy positions of authority. Religion is especially bad though, because it's authority is based on something totally false. Apparently most people think "accepting" other people's beliefs is a good thing, but I don't. I absolutely loathe theism, faith in religious leaders, and all things connected with it. I don't hate religious people or theists, but I do hate what they believe.

    Agreed.

There is no rational backing up for beleiving in a god besides using god too fill in all the unanswered qeustions we have about the universe and everything around us. Over time people have said god did it and then been proven wrong by science and had to change the beleifs so that god still remains a possibility.
Of course there's a rational backing. Recent scientests have even admitted that mathamatically it's more plasuable that someone created earth then the way of evouloution. Truly I think evouloution is implausable. Evouloution is based around science (of course) however the chances of even a bacteria forming and so and so on acctually disprove it. No real scientest would back a theory that there's a 1 in 200 bajilllion (<<not a real number) chance of even a bacteria forming let alone all the various other things. What are the chances that our these amino acids came together?! In evouloution it's all randomness. I think it's far more logical that someone created it beyond our ability to comprend. Acctually in the theory of evouloution period is flawed. For excample a (All these dates im just throwing together to prove a point and the dinosaurs as well, I can't be botherd to acctually find the dates etc) a Trex descendent is supposebly the Super Trex yet the Trex's bones end at 200 millions years ago and the Super Trex appear at 100 million years ago. And there are NO fossils that have them inbetween. It randomly appears and randomly dissaperes. There is litterally not ONE aniaml that we have found forming into another.

I am not saying science is worthless. But religion in itself and science can't explain everything. I apsoloutly hate how people go to such extremes with each one. I'd like to think the dinosaurs randomly dissapered because he got bored of them or perhaps wanted to give us a little puzzle. Perhaps he was experimenting- or intended them to be here when we poped up but it went wrong. I don't know but I dont look at the bible and say the dinosaurs became extinct because they became to evil. Because in the period the dinosaurs became extinct...they were acctually more passive and weak (besides what hollywood tells you). Anyways like always this is personal belief I just wanted to point out while it's easy to point out the flaws in religion it's just as easy to point out flaws in evouloition etc. See? Essentially evouloutian has been proven wrong and no real scientest belives it (unless he puts faith into it way more then is needed) that makes a hole in your theorys with science. Does not mean there wrong-just like it doesn't mean religion is wrong because many fake prophest and ignorant men claimed god did something that he really didn't

When i went into a mennanite school a few years ago for a while i talked too one of the students about evolution and he told me i was wrong, after asking him why he told me i was wrong about evolution he walked over too a book stand and opened a bible too genesis 1 (god creating the earth) and toldme that was his proof.

Well that's just hypocritical and ignorant. Please just ignore people like that there ****ing retards and give religion a bad rap. Truthfully I think all organized religion is . But that's for another thread

Can you tell me for 100% sure that there wrong? Can you prove that god doesn't excist? No you can't-but you can prove most scientific theorys are wrong yet most (mabey not you) still cling to there theorys that are acctually disproven. That's pretty pathatic and I hate when people do that. Please Atheist dont come in here and start trying to defend evoloution because you really can't it's dissproven and your being the excact thing you hate (people defending something that is supposebly false) hopefully you won't though. In which case I can credit you in being more rational and realistic then most people I find that belive god didn't create us

Oh man, that's some heavy . How do you want to make a mathematical figure about nothing? Find the equation for a "creator".

    cracked me up there

Ah religions arent so bad once you get to know them. If i could make one based on a simple list of commandments which if followed would assure world peace forever, well that wouldnt be so bad now would it? I think its a bit cynical to say all religion is about distributing power, is just one way of analysing the outcome.

On the other hand it seems to me that mankind needed religion as a tool for progression, i dont think we in simpler times would have developed socialy any where near as fast had it not been for the focusing of power on religious leaders, who else could legitimise their rule in the eyes of the people so effectively? Its like the perfect combination for getting things done, "order followed by threat of eternal damnation... result!". Atheism just doesnt seem practical in a world lacking comfortable existence.. why look forward to heaven when youve got it pretty sweet already? Why look forward to the release from life unless youre guarenteed a good deal?

I don't have anything against religious people, but when they try to push it on me, like mormons who come to your doorstep trying to convert you, thats what pisses me off. I think religion was a necessary tool in human history, but to me, in most modern civilized nations, it just seems unnecessary. Religion unites some and divides many, it has been the cause of an inconceivable number of deaths, wars, etc, and I believe that it has run its course.

Yes, I do not get angry, frustrated at what my religion prohibits. Specifically dating, and such. For we are exposed all around to girls, yet can not become more intimate with them, atleast until marriage, and yet, it can not be with the one you love.

Masteradin you are the controller of your own belifes and any religion can be interupertted ''in the eyes of the beholder'' so why can you not bend the rules a bit? If I was christain (which I aint) I most certainly would not pray or go to church on the account that I know god knows I am devout/what my wishes are and it's a bunch of foolish mumbojumbo. Why can you not bend the rules a little if you still have a good life do you actually belive god will be angry with you? On a side note does islam think that non belivers will go to heaven? And if they do...if they let non belivers go to heaven god certainly wouldn't be mad at someone who bended a tiny rule!

I get angry at atheists not religious people
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be used until they try and take it away.

You see, I would, but I have been raised by this religion. Taught many of the things listed in there, and the thing is, I agree with most of it. I don't want to break any of the rules, for to me, it seems like I am breaking a way of life I have kept up till now.

Plus, my parents and all would be very upset with me, and it would be shaming my family showing others I have not been raised right. I know, sounds mid-evil, but I'm sure there are many similarites between today's social activites and the what I stated above.

You might not be believing in something bad, but you're still using a mid-evil(I like your way of spelling it  ) way of thinking.

Most people have much less free will then they think they do. If your parents we're atheists, would you be an atheist?

The point is that you should be very careful about the beleifs that you were raised with, and that you should be willing to weigh them verus other beleifs.

not that I'm saying that YOU are guilty of not thinking about your faith

I hope I'm not believing in anything bad, although, everything in my religion has pointed towards a better life.

P.S.-I like my way of spelling mid-evil also .

Probably would, although as I get older, would see other religions and my views might turn, just as many of the people at my mosque's views have changed. One person was a white male Roman Catholic and he converted.

I do, I question my religion and ask the Islamic leaders at my mosque and read books that compare Islam and Christianity, specifically the ones that have the differences and similarities, and have noticed that the core beliefs are very much the same.

When I was younger I choose to ignore those prohibitions. Now when I'm a little bit older, I clearly see the good values . Well there's more things that we can do than things that we cannot do.
