I have Rome : Total War - Gold Edition which, according to the options screen, is v1.5 in RTW, and v1.6 in RTW:BI.
I've downloaded the RTR Version 1.9 Platinum Mod Switch. From what I understand that's the one I should be using. Correct me if I'm wrong since this may be the reason for following problem.
Whenever I attempt to install it (Yes, I've tried more than once), it gives me following message:
"Your version of Rome:Total War appears to be incorrect. This mod requires RTW version 1.5, or RTW:BI version 1.6"
Why does it do that and how do I fix it?
It's a 100% vanilla gold edition -- 3rd installation in fact, since some of the files appeared to be unreadable, which forced me to run a CHKDSK twice. Now I've installed it on a different HD and there doesn't seem to be any problems running RTW, or RTW:BI for that matter.
It might be worth mentioning that I actually managed to install RTRPE previously (On RTW installment #2) by ignoring above-mentioned warning. Though, as one would expect, it didn't seem to function properly, seeing as there was no background music, no pictures when checking unit details, and it repeatedly crashed upon attempting to get detailed unit information on units created in the Stables.
EDIT: Btw.
In following thread: RTR 6 Gold/Platinum - FAQ (please read this before posting questions)
There's a Q/A which goes like this (shortened):
15) "I purchased RTW Gold edition, which includes RTW and BI patched to version 1.5, can I play RTR?"
Yes, you need...
...
Alternatively, you can play RTR: Platinum Edition, which is based upon RTW 1.5/1.6. For more information, please refer to #20.
I can not see this elusive #20 it's refering to anywhere in the thread. Is it just me..?
