Does anyone know why the AI never attacks the Ashgara Shogun? (even on Legendary difficulty)

Egyptian revolutionary.....Canadian in nationality......Arab by blood.....and proud Muslim.
I've seen the AI get owned by them and i've seen them being conquered by the AI.
Takes a good few turns and a strong AI faction for it to happen though.
I was playing as Date and Chosokabe took the Shogunate, no penalty to their diplomatic relations and they don't seem to gain anything extra - Nihon Maru/Great Guard. All they had was adding the shogunate to their clan name. The Date clan didn't take too lightly of this of course![]()
Thnx for the reply....I am dying to see what happens if an enemy takes over the Shogunate.

Nothing really.
The Oda on VH came in and conquered kyoto and hence became the Oda Shogunate.
After I triggered realm divide then everyone declared war on me as usual.

Wellll yes and no.
When I played as the Date I received a message from the Shogun asking me to join them on a war against the Hattori as the Shogun feared that they were growing too strong. However this was when it was still Ashikaru Shogunate.
Needless to say eventually most of the factions turned against them and beated them back.
Of course when I reached that level then the Shogun went after me.
But as the Chosokabe the Oda are the Shogunates but no one's gone after them so I'm not sure.
Citadel with its 7 or 9 second stripe samurai bowmen is very difficult to capture.
Sometimes the best solution to any problem is with fire.
By that I mean Fire Magonels with max accuracy.
10 Magonels will devastate the entire archer line and demoralize them, afterwards, I set them to withdraw and allow my 10 archers to come in to support the final attack with armored naginatas. (So in other words when I'm sieging I have an army of 20 archers on standby to swap in)
hm. the ashigara shogunate has been wiped out pretty early in all my campaigns. in the campaign im playing now the current shogunate is Hattori Shogunate. pretty funny xD
In my games there often sits the Takeda-Shogunate in Kyoto. They get awefully strong in many of my campaigns.
Edit: It's not necessarily worse for the player, since a different Shogunate neither spawns the additional army the Ashikaga get nor do they defend Kyoto better than any other province.

Granted, I have only been playing on easy and normal for the moment to learn the game after having myself completely and totally helplessly slaughtered in my very first game on VH.
In easy, I have never seen any AI faction even come close to attacking Kyoto. Playing as Chosokabe, I owned everything south of Kyoto and Date owned everything north with maybe 4 other clans right up against Kyoto. The year 1579 brought RD and not a soul declared against me as I was blood kin with everyone except Kyoto on top of being Blood Kin ally of Date. After RD, Date started losing ground to rebels even though they had three full stacks at Kyoto's border awaiting my arrival to assist me. Five full stacks of my armies and allies and I did not even bother personally fighting the battle to become Shogunate. After this point the game was supidly boring as it was just a matter of rounding up a few rebel provinces to complete which Date just let remain as rebels for me.
On Normal and above, I have only been playing long enough to get a feel for the AI so I honestly cannot comment about RD and Shogunate yet. So far, on the harder levels the only real difference I see in the way I play is the harder the level the faster you get your first real challenge and the faster other nations will turn on you. Remember, this is only an impression as I have NOT played very far into any other difficulty yet. Once I have conquered Japan with eash clan on easy I will move on to normal and so forth until I make it all the way through on legendary. Admittedly curious, I have found I must wait as all of my world map strategies that can take and hold the entire map in previous TW games do not work so well for me here and I am having to learn to play differently.
EDIT: Just love eating my words, but it did give me an idea for a new strategy that actually worked out hilariously well. Playing as Date I began a very fast expansion. A few pitched battles later I had most of Date's corner of the map and added usuegi as blood kin vassal. Setting up a quick defensive line I started working my economy, building, and research while feeding Usuegi my left over funds every season. They beat Takeda down so fast they came running begging to be my vassal. Taking advantage of a single daughter I accepted and started feeding them my end of turn funds rather than Usuegi as they were now fairly powerful. In the end, I sat back and only went in to pick off the rebelling provinces as they rebelled. Eventually the Shogunate started begging help so I did what someone else had done by making them a vassal. At this point we were down to only 4 major clans and maybe a half dozen vassal clans remained. Takeda declared against the Shogunate. I sent everyone after Takeda and continued only to mop up rebel provinces and made all victory conditions excepting I finally had to go in and remove Takeda as Shogunate who took it in a last ditch rush before everyone else finished their last 2 provinces off. I had 2 seasons remaining on the timer and that was just a cool freaking game!

If seeking instant gratification without thought to repercussions, take a shotgun to it!
On VH, I have seen other AI factions take Kyoto and become Shogun.
