dam 3d max

so i was messing in 3d max doing some slight alterations, eveything worked fine and i imported back into game,
but i forgot to rescale,so went back to max and had the brilliant idea of lengthening the sword,so i hid the spear altered the sword and now when i try to scale down,their not attached to the figure anymore....
how do i fix this,

also what do i need to do to make the other three lower scale lod models

ive searched the .org and strat com but no answers

by my understanding uve managed to rescale and need to reattach the weapons to the person is that right?

thanks for answering rob,yeh i had him in game but when i got close he turned into a giant head,so i went back to max and the weapons became unattached and would not scale back down after 2 more hours of ******** ive manage to make a right ****** of it and didnt save the one that was close now ive got to many vertices though i havnt added any so im going to drink a bottle of red wine and start again tommorow from scratch :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

So ( checking whether I'm understanding this right ) you just want to scale down the sword, without it moving from it's position?

In that case, your pivot should be in the center of your object:




Now you can scale it down/up without it moving

no that wasnt the problem but thanks for the info it all helps, maybe the moderators could merge this with other max tutorials as it seems alot of people are getting into modeling at the moment, and searching through the tutorial section here at the org and strat command takes ages

Then what exactly is your problem? In your picture it says you can't scale down, but that's because your currently working in the skin modifier. You got to delete that, then scale down the weapon, and link the weapon to the bone ( using the skin modifier on a weapon isn't really that good: you won't be able to import the .cas anymore then. You should just link it to the right bone using the 'select and link' tool, top left in 3DS ).
