    Default Early Matchlock Ashigaru?

    So I learned how to use the PFM to modify a unit's stats, but now I'm trying to see about getting Matchlock Ashigaru into the game earlier, without the tech requirement. I deleted the tech link from the .pack file, and made some minor changes (set default accuracy to 39, so I know my changes had effect). The thing is, the unit does get modified so I know the .pack file is working, but it doesn't appear in my build list. I even upgraded the castle a few times (to fortress, IIRC) and still no Matchlock Ashigaru. There's no structure link on them, which leaves the tech, and I double-checked that I deleted that.

    Help?

    I know, I'm asking for help, to see if anyone else has seen this problem. It'd be nice to change tech requirements for units.

    There are some serious problems with overwriting certain tables with ones in a mod. The game will still load the vanilla table from patch 3 and changed entries will be treated as new ones. So you can't get rid of tech requirements in vanilla by deleting or changing them for example. I have to say that S2 is realy a chore to mod in certain areas.

    I tried editing the rows regarding ashigaru matchlocks unit_required_technology_junctions and changing the required tech to 'bushido' (first bushido art tech). and saving it in a movie .pack

    It links the tech required to it just fine, it shows it enables the ashigaru matchlocks when highlighting the tech in the tech tree.

    However, it also still shows that the last, gunnery mastery unlocks Ashigaru Matchlocks. So when i tech Bushido, they are not unlocked.

    Anyone got an idea what I'm doing wrong here?

    Nothing. Read my post. You can't change or overwrite the vanilla entries in the patch pack with a table in a mod.
