no, i dont believe so, unless you make a major, major modification, and even then i dont believe you could get the coding right, seeing as the marian reform in the game is not a set date, but is a variable depending on when you build your first imperial palace in Italy, so no, i do not believe there is a way to do that.

eh its not too hard. Basically it involves removing the requirement that the marian reforms have to occur before the unit can be recruited...if i'm not sick in bed later I will find which one and how to do it.

I have seen the program two days ago... but personally I suggest don't change it if you don't understand programming... (because the file actually is a command to tell the computer what should it do, if you remove and never fix it properly, the whole program may have problem.)

Go to find out the file first... then report to us... we would think a way to change it.

Ok. Go into the file called export_descr_buildings. Remove every instance of "and marian_reforms". This will enable Roman Legions to be trained from the get go. You'll notice that units like hastati will have the line in that file "and not marian_reforms". If you keep it, the units will disappear when the Marian Reforms do occur. If you get rid of it, you'll always have hastati...and legions...regardless of reforms or not. If you just don't like pre-marian troops, I would suggest removing every line that refers to pre-marian units, that is to say, everything there that says not marian_reforms.
That should do it. No guarantees.

never tried it but did you save a back up folder, cause if u did go back to normal incase its that if u havent uninstall the game delete the rome total war folder and reinstall

Shuriken the maruis is the biggest thing that happens in the game.. umm.. all the roman fractions get new units..

No. The marius reforms is where the romans go from using hastati, prinicpes, triarii, velites, equites to using legionary cohorts, auxilia infatry, praetorian cohorts and other units. The romans never get the ability to build elephants.

He is getting confused, i believe he thinks the romans get elephants with the marian reforms, which they dont. They never get them.

But I have a question... would the damned reform change the General Bodyguard? Because my Rome general bodyguard likes totally different than the custom game!!! (my Parthian also has this problem...)

Except as mercenaries in Africa, Egypt etc...But they indeed can't recruite them, pre or post marian...

It does, the roman factions bodyguard gets upgraded in the reforms, other factions when they build the highest level of government building, eg imperial palace.
