I had a stack of rebels spawn in Sicily as the Romans and ended up battling them on the slopes of that mountain/volcano on the NE end of Sicily. When I got to the deployment screen I got this (warning, 1920 x 1080 screenies) ..

I remember doing something like that in the MTW map editor, the hill so high and so sharp, then posting longbows at the top.
Sigh. Spider samurai. People just never realize....There is even that hated ball samurai if you look closely.

Thats pretty crazy - I've had similar experiences fighting against Armenia in the mountains east of modern day Turkey. Awesome if you have archers- but a total abuse of the system.
What is that white stretch running down the left side of the mini map? Don't think I've seen that before.

Thank you sirs .. I'm pretty sure I had the high ground advantage, but when playing out the battle my troops got exhausted after what seemed to be 2 seconds so I'm not sure it was an advantage

Be happy you had to deploy on this side of the slope - imagine if it were a
one or two steps further - fire arrows would have become the last thing
to be worried about.
