    Default Movement problems 12TPY

    Been playing as the WRE.
I noticed that the generals have very limited moves but the same doesn't apply to the other units if you use them alone without a general. This means that the AI can move armies against you very quickly while the player, if he uses generals in order to move takes a lot of time to get in the threatened front.

Also, I noticed that in some areas, where there were no roads the generals get stuck. For example, I invaded the province of Ravenna with Emperor Julianus and a large army. Suddenly, when I got inside the province, the general couldn't move anymore. So he has remained stuck there and I can't move him anymore. It seems I either have to build a road in Ravenna after I capture it with the units inside the army of Julianus (but without Julianus himself) or wait until the guy dies there.

"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."

    There are both movement penalties and bonuses for characters. It depends upon particular traits gained, for example;

the traits: Disciplinarian, Energetic, LogisticalSkill, Overconfident, Rested, Excited, TurnsAlive (Youth), being a Nomad, DesertWarrior, FriendlyTerritory all gain movement points.

while the traits: BadDisciplinarian, Tired, Bored, TurnsAlive (Middle_Aged onwards), WinterEffects, SummerEffects, PoorlySupplied, EnemyTerritory, ForcedMarching, loose movement points.

As for Ravenna. It is land locked to represent it's well guarded position (Swamps etc). Which side of Ravenna are you on? If you are on the Adriatic side you may need to be rescued by ship, but I would have thought that if you own Ravenna, then you should be able to get via the city.

I approached Ravenna from the West and only now that I captured it, is Julianus able to move again.
Also, my British army has been locked in Scotland and can't move for 10+ turns now. Not a single move. The barbarians have ravaged my lands and have assaulted all my cities while my elite army sits in Scotland doing nothing. That's pretty bad.

Can one of you post a picture of your generals who seem to be stuck in the mud. Also, why don't you just relieve your armies of these particular generals, as movement restriction only applies to characters.

Can you post a screen shot of the generals involved. Another option is to try the 4 or 6tpy scripts.

Tried several times to print screen but is shows a black image. Damn.
Anyway, it's winter in my campaign and it seems that all generals have received a -9 movement point and they can't move at all.
On the contrary, the units alone can move except from those stuck in Scotland.

The -9 movement penalty is the same for all 3 tpy options. The difference for the 12tpy is that it is for 3 moves compared to only one for the 4 and 6tpy.

May I suggest leaving behind your slow general and moving without him. As for the units trapped in Scotland I have no idea there.

For screen shots it is best to use something like Fraps, which is free to download, so then you can post screenshots.

EDIT: May I suggest increasing the movement for characters from the current 60 to say 80 or 100 and see if that helps. You will find it in the descr_character.txt and located within the file where it says "starting_action_points 60". Change to 60 to 80 or 100.
    Cheers

Hi I have the same problem with the 12tpy. Three Armies stuck. One Army stuck on the sea, the boat doesn't move anymore.

I'll go to start a new game with 4tpy or 6tpy. One Question. What is the difference between the "full scrict option" and the "script option"

Do I have to delete map.rwm?

    Thank you in forward
