Total War : Budo (Way of the Warrior) League
Utilizing the core values of the Bushido,
Members live the Samurai Code through behavior in multi-player:
No fear of death
No fear of defeat
No thoughts of victory
Honouring the way of the true warrior
Service to Clan above all things
Background
The current condition of multiplayer warfare at the moment is in a sad, dog eat dog state.
Battles are entered with hardly a greeting offered, quitters abound not wanting to incur a loss on the clan ladders, spam tactics too often the norm. There is sadly little friendly camaraderie. New players are afraid to enter the battlefield, and experienced players contemplate abandoning match made altogether after a plague of rage quitters means no result for match after match played.
Is there an alternative? We believe there is.
The ‘Budo League’ will be a co-operative endeavour between like minded individuals and clans just wanting to fight a fair fight; a self administrating group treating each other as equal human beings, learning and enjoy the infinite positive experiences of game-play with a competitive opponent.
How it will work:
- Matches between clans will be arranged by a clan ambassador or team representative in a fixed venue for such communications(ie forum etc), who will contact other possible opponent clans and negotiate times and clan players.
- Games will be hosted in the mp battle list and clearly marked (eg Takeda vs Uesugi 1).
- Pre-arranged passwords will be used for such games.
- Pre-agreed upon rule sets will be applied
- All game replays will be saved in a central league database.
What you will need:
- You will need to be in a clan that is willing to adopt the rule sets that will be suggested for each match.
- You will need to play every game until the end, regardless of result.
- Each team will observe common etiquette towards opponents, with no trash talking etc and generally understood competition etiquette
- You will need to be willing to have each game saved as a replay which will be kept as evidence of fair play.
- If necessary, a non-partisan observer/referee will watch an arranged matches to ensure fair play and observance to chosen rules for the match etc.
For those individuals who are wanting to participate but are not a member of a clan, we in the Takeda Clan are willing to assist you to set up your own clans and clan websites in order to participate.

This concept is a scalable development proposition with the initiative leading to the possible development of a formal league if there is sufficient support community wide. So, initially it will be a place where honour clans can meet to play like-minded clans under agreed rules and partake in formal diplomatic relations with each other, but could lead to greater things - leagues or tournaments.
If a league does materialize, the rule sets would have to be the same for all matches to be fair to everyone. Similarly, tournaments would have to have the same rules for all matches, although that is not to say that you could not have different rules for different tournaments.
Secondary concept for Match Made
Two players playing match made could identify each other in pre MM chat, ensuring a certain level of etiquette agreed between both players. Those known clans could add a simple |HC| or |Budo| to their Steam names. Alternatively, in pre-battle chat, each opponent could identify themselves with a simple “Budo League” input, allowing both players to then progress through battle stages with a pre-defined pacing and respect.
