Default CA's sense of humor in S2TW

    Hey all,

Anyone notice the way the guy in demo says "Bullship?"

    It sounds like "!"

    Also,

In the demo, the announcer says "Your troops are green, your enemy is red and your allies are yellow"

Personally I find CA's attempts at humour to be peurile, and unfunny. It illustrates to me that they don't take themselves seriously. It also illustrates a moral ambiguity which appears to run through all their endeavours, and which I don't like. Selling war to children, with 'jokes' as relish, for example.

    Hmmm.

The wife of a General who says, "It`s not mean dear, it`s prudent." - 1 moral from army!

Another bit for an art that said something like, "Use the pointy end- The POINTY end!"

The ninja cutscenes have been the funniest for me though. The Ninja jumping down and missing, I mean he`s got gravity and he still misses! Also the ninja taking a flying leap and the General ducks and he just keeps flying off the ledge!

MTW and RTW had dozens of jokes scattered inside them, and those were funny. RTW had them in the traits and ancillaries descriptions.

On the other hand, S2TW humour ain't that good, they slacked a bit but then again they focused more on the game rather than the jokes.

Has anyone seen the Ninja video where his leg is grabbed by the sleeping man, and in a thought bubble it shows the man is dreaming of sleeping with a woman?
I thought that was hilarious, mostly because the woman looks fake - as if she's a medieval version of a Japanese love pillow...

But yeah, the humour isn't as distinct as MTW and Rome. Craven Whoreson is probably the greatest insult ever.

    Hah, wow. Sourpuss.....

Oh and FYI, TW games aren't marketed to the 8-12 year old population. Not quite sure where you are pulling that one outta.

I think maybe you take yourself too seriously, it doesn't mean others have to. Are you deadly serious when you are killing pixellated non-existent TW sprites on a screen, crying ''oh the horror!'' It's a game for Christ's sake!

Come off it. These guys must sit 8, 10, 12 hours a day at a desk with a keyboard. They must get sore backs, sore arses, sore eyes, sore wrists.

Let them have a laugh while they do it FFS.

There is a lot of humour in their ninja videos. I like them but at the same time they irritate me because they aren't taken seriously. but I love CA's choice for the battle narrator and the unintentional humour in his tone. SH-.. No, no i will resist the urge.

    This.

But I think that if CA took themselves a bit more seriously, like some FPS games take themselves very seriously, that CA could easily appeal to a wider audiance.

Instead, compared to the 'grit' of some FPS games, Total War feels a little cartoony at times.

    Hi all,

The TW series AGAIN are not historical, true to life to the bone battle simulators like Arma 2.

Nor do the TW games display the true depth of warfare such as Les Grognards does.
That game can be found on the "histwar" website.

The TW series are meant to address historical eras, true, but they will never reach the level of let's say Battlefront's games like Theater of War, TOW 2, TOW 3, etc.
Why? CA on one hand and Sega (or aka Kiddyville) on the other.

I've yet to see a true to life FPS or MMO from Japan. I've only seen child & pornographic Anime (No, I do NOT watch pornographic Anime, I've only seen something that a friend once owned and I asked him to stop playing it) and weird "Fuku Kitty" bizzare crap.

Sorry, I immensely dislike anime as it is demeans both the female especially & male genders by its
"I'm so innocent" air and wide eyed characters based on Disney's art. Sailor Moon anyone?

    Done.
