Default Help & Advice on buying a new internal hard drive

Guys I need some help on buying a new internal hard drive, right this is a site of a list of Serial ATA 2 drives, I am browsing.

, but I am not too sure whether my motherboard support it, which is

Abit IC7 MAX 3 Intel 875P Chipset Pentium 4 Dual SATA RAID Dual DDR 400 AGP Pro 8X OTES

Which bit of my motherboard do I look at to determine whether it support Serial ATA 2 disk drives is it the Storage Controller Type(s) bit.

And which hard drive do you reckon I should purchase from that website, I have stated above.

    Thanks.

Your motherboard doesn't support SATA II, this is not a major issue since the harddrive will work but it work as a regular SATA not a SATA II.
Go for whatever harddrive is cheapest per GB. Which brand doesn't matter much IMO, all brands nowdays make good harddrives.

You are most helpful my friend, my thanks to you. Urm did you look at the Storage Controller Type(s) bit to determine the motherboard compability with the SATA? There's no other differences from SATA 1 and 2 since its only the speed difference?

    This is your motherboard, yes?
It has 4 SATA ports, 0 SATAII ports.
And the difference between SATA !II is that SATA II is slightly faster and has support for NCQ (Native Command Queuing). But NCQ often lowers performanse in a non-server enviroment, ie. everyday home-usage.

Yep, that's the one, all the info is correct, I just wanted to check whether it supports SATA 2, since there's was discussion in other forums about a user having bought SATA 2 ard disk, but when run it only runs as a SATA as you mentioned. Thanks
