Default Rome Total War "Barbarian Invasion" Hotseat

    Rome Total War
    Barbarian Invasion

This will be the first hotseat to use the expansion for RTW Barbarian Invasion. I will only accept players who are very active and reliable for this hotseat. So sorry to those who get refused, it is nothing personnel against you. As admin I promise to keep this hotseat moving at a nice speed and turns will be skipped when they are not posted within 24 hours. We have not decided on any specifc rules for this hotseat yet, so I shall post them once all the rules have been decided. As soon as we have got the 10 players and everyone is setup with RTW patch 1.6 installed we will start. I wish everyone luck and a fun campaign.

    Celts
    Goths - Tavix
    Franks - Desley
    Saxons -
    Alemanni - Oddsworm
    Burgundii - Rougeman
    Sassanids - Timur_the_Lame
    Eastern Roman Empire - Vasilefs
Western Roman Empire - Incontinenta Buttox

    Rules

After 24 hours, if you haven't posted your save the next player can download your save and press the end turn button so that he may continue the hotseat.

You must PM the next player when their turn becomes available. Repeatedly failing to do this simple task will result in an ingame fine, or if the Hotseat is repeatedly held up as a result then you will be removed and a replacement found!

Hording, no human controlled barbarian factions are allowed to horde until they have no settlements. If anyone goes into horde mode when they still own a settlement their turn must be replayed.

NO ADDING MONEY! If anyone is discovered to have used the console to add money or any other cheats they will be removed immediately from this hotseat. As we cannot disable the console we must all trust each other to play fairly. Cheats will not be tolerated.

NO RELOADING TURNS! If anyone is discovered to have been doing this, penalty is a straight ban.

All Player vs Player battles must be auto-resolved. Battles against AI can be played. Note: Screenshots are to be posted as evidence of auto-resolve.(The Odds and Results windows must not be edited in any way. Editing out Map info, Cash, Unit Cards, and any Units/Agents/Regions not involved in the attack is fine however)
    .

From now on the first moves every turn MUST be assassin moves. Also you are only allowed 1 assassination attempt each turn so that this can be verified by the admin. This must be your first move before any other is made. NO SPENDING MONEY, no nothing, before the assassination attempt. I want too see the screenshot of the post assassin attempt showing the same amount of florins. Finally you may not attempt to assassinate family members.

All defeated armies are not allowed to move on the turn after they have been defeated, nor can they be attacked on the turn after they have been defeated.

    No attacking Ships inside port.

No leaving port if blockaded. (You'd have to defeat all ships blockading the port to leave)

Spies are not allowed to open the gates of any Settlement/Castle human or AI.

Only military buildings can be destroyed, and only after you have owned the region for 3 or more turns.(Ports are not Military Buildings)

No surrounding enemy armies with one stack armies, solely to deny any survivors a retreat. Also the paths of retreating armies cannot be blocked in any way.

Any regions that are gifted, sold, traded with another Faction must have all units except one disbanded immediatly!

I expect all players to use their logic and common sense if judging if there actions exploit the game or not. Where discreprencies arrive, a vote of all players will decide the outcome.

You may not defeat an army and then attack it again to force a battle with the retreating army near to a settlement and capture it on the same turn! Anyone caught breaking this rule will be forced to replay their turns again.

Would that be because of the usual suspects quitting after they lose interest?

A BI campaign will most likely result in a more interesting and shorter (for me at least) campaign.

The only reason I quit was because the HS stalled for about a month. I think most of us would quit in that scenario . but yeah, overall, you're right.

    @ Dave

Here are some rules we need for more balanced campaign:

*Barbarian hording factions shouldnt be allowed to become horde unless their last settlement is captured,it is how AI use horde ability.

*Spies and Assassins should be completely removed

*Only destroyable buildings should be military buildings (barracks,Stables, archery range.....)

*Spawned troops when someone gives you a settlement that is near a war zone have to be disbanded IMMEDIATELY the same turn. If settlement is not in a war zone you are allowed to keep one of them to maintain public order in the settlement.

    *
    No attacking ships inside ports

I agree with most of your suggestions for rules. However I cannot agree to any player restrictions on agents or units. Making the use of assassins and spies illegal is not the right way forward. I have added some rules to post 1 please take a look and see what you think of the assassin rule. Don't forget that most factions start with 1 settlement and there is not a lot to do at the start. Spies and Assassins should be part of the game.

As for rules on hording, I honestly do not know what the best rule would be myself. As I dont know this game well and hardly played it. Take the Goths for instance I think the only way they can survive is by turning into a horde at the start and escaping as quickly as they can from the Huns and the Vandals. If their last settlement is captured wont they be defeated? We all need to discuss more how the hording rule should apply in this hotseat as it is a very important consideration.

You dont need admins to clear passwords or switch factions to AI control. But I believe not being able to disable the cheat console makes having an admin imperative. Because I will be checking saves every turn to make sure no add money cheats have been used. How will I work that out? simple look at the last turns financial forecast and compare it with the next turns. Also you need an admin to be a referee and enforce the hotseat rules fairly. Players cannot be left to sort out disputes over the rules themselves.

    a few RTW hs's have failed...gl
Well, to be fair there have only been a couple of RTW hotseats so this fact does not put me off. Also, as long as we get the right group of players that wont happen again.

Heck, I might as well put myself down as the Celts. We only need 4 more players now to start

Against my better judgement, being in all three failed Rome hotseats, ill take the Alemanni. Cant resist this era and EB2 unfortunately will likely come out in 10 years time.

Im surprised that someone picked the Goths, dont 2 seperate swarms of hordes come down via that route very early on?

Who are the Celts? Its been years since i played Barbarian Invasion but i dont recall the Celts.
