Icon13 rank by fire is just unrealistic

As far as I know, rank by fire ability is invented in late 17th century. There is no way that Jap know it in 16th century and heck it is exited in the game.

Thumb down if you think that I am right.

16th Century Arquebusiers advanced and fired by rank as far as I am aware.

I haven`t tried gunners yet. I don`t know the reality of when fire by rank started or who was first to have it. We know places like Japan and China did invent some techniques before Europe. But I will read up on it.

I'm assuming that it represents one of the more famous isntances of advanced musket tactics of the era. At Nagashino, Oda Nobunaga was able to decimate the Takeda cavalry by having his musketeers fire in such a way that one man was always reloading, while someone was taking a shot. The effect was a relatively continuous rate of fire. I assume that fire-by-rank is a way of representing that particular example of force multiplication.

It was invented in EUROPE in the late 17th century, the Japanese were using it for quite some time. If I remember correctly, the Chinese were as well.

Rank by fire is used during Sengoku Jidai, though basically behind wooden barricades, embedded with large wooden spikes to ward off cavalry, and took turns firing volleys and reloading.

psstt.. not everything was invented by Europeans.

Sure it was, we invented the katana but didn't like it, so we sent the planes to japan, and they loved it.

Indeed.. GUNPOWDER / GUNS for one.. Which is what we are talking about here!

And again, all it ever takes is just 1 general to have an idea while taking a dump, "hm, what if the men in front ducked down to let the men in the back fire while they reload".
It's not an idea requiring incredible intellect or even military education for that matter. It is entirely possible that some random general before the officially accepted year of introduction used that tactic sometime.
Without it having been recorded in any big important historical books.
Just think of all the battles that took place in the world, only a handful of them were logged with any degree of detail.

Why taking a dump? Why not during breakfast or when he's having sex?

A sort of fire by rank was surely used in Nagashino, moreover, if there's something really unrealistic for every warfare era is the "opportunity fire" introduced with NTW with only the first rank firing and the others just looking to the beautiful sky. No thanks, thank god CA gave us back fire by rank
If I recall correctly rank by fire was phasing out by the time of Napoleon. Second thing was the gaming as the AI was having trouble shooting. With the Opportunity fire the firing rate improved as well as the unit's reaction.

Not sure which rock you've been living under, but gunpowder was invented by the Chinese, and by the 10th century they were using cannons. So, no, gunpowder/guns was not invented by the Europeans.

But back to topic, Rank by fire was used by Japanese clan armies : fact.
If the OP thinks it's historically inaccurate, just turn it off.
