Default So I'm actualy liking this

Now ever since rome(which I played like a mad man) I've never really gotten into total war, M2 was just rome with new models, and I simply knew to much about the horse and musket period to let all those faults of Empire and Napoleon to pass, they were just so stupid and silly.

So since rome I have NEVER completed a campaign for M2, Empire or Napoleon not even a short one.
Mostly just played around with mods and custom battles.

But with Shogun 2, I'm digging it, I don't know enough about the period to let all those faults i'm sure is there to bother me, I also get this nostalgic feel from it.

Total war just didn't work with the horse and musket period, the ai didn't work, the battles were just way to small to really show the period, the uniforms sucked ect. They were also extemely unsteable, half the time the battles crashed.

But with mele style battles total war works very well, the smaller battles don't look so small with feudal armies ect.

I'm now just 13 years from finishing a long campaign, and having a blast. 19 hours played in 2 days, it took 6 months of mostly custom battles of empire to get to 18 hours, and 95% of that time was with Blue and gray mod, I never got pased 10 hours with Napoleon.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thought Empire sucked. I played a total of 87 hours on Empire, I already have 44 on Shogun 2 and will rack up more.

I think you're right that the AI just couldn't handle the musket and horse era. They were constantly clueless. Since I like the strategy aspect of TW the most, multiplayer was not interesting to me, and thus Empire was a huge disappointment (it also didn't work for the longest time on my puter with the stupid NVIDIA bug that required me to downgrade my video drivers to prehistoric times). Never even bothered to buy Napoleon.

I thought it was funny that someone on TWC thought they were in a minority when not liking ETW...
Anyways, have you lost to the AI in campaign yet?
