Finland versus Russia

I like to see some Finnish troops in this mod, it could be own campaign, or just part of basic campaign.
I hope there could be "Finnish Jaegers", stronger than other jaegers as they were finns elite troops. They aren similar than example Austrian jaegers hwo are just hunter hwo became skirmishers.
So, here is something

1. ww began, and evryone hoped than russia would loose that. Group of finns wanted to DO something, so they went into Sweden, and there into Prussia were they get training 27th Jaeger http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27th_J%C3%A4ger_Battalion_(Finland) (Jäger in german, Jääkäri in Finnish) regiment. When winter war began, jaegers came back to fighting against russians.
So, i wish them to be a elite unit in game. As it was trench war, i wish there would be trenches all a time abailable, maybe modded trench, not those huge sanbags. In that way troops dont have to be that kind of "loose formation" like they are in "The great War"

However, I wouldn't mind seeing Finland come in.

I have no idea about other Finnish units, nor the team has I think. If you could supply us with info about more units and their participation at WW1 it would be nice

The Finnish Jaegers should be a bit more powerful, indeed, and I think they will be.

The trenches will be modded, but not just yet, I think.

@Highlander: Yeah, the Finnish Republic would be a nice addition for emergent faction. This way I could have a loyal puppet in the north for the Mighty Reich!

Before yer our indepence, there werent any troops. (read article "finnish jaegers") But in winter war (1940-1941) we got 337 000–346 500 men against 1 000 000 russians. Good think if they got uniforms, but that doesnt matter in ww (=winter war in this case) they got winter dress (?), its easy to made, just some sheet where is holl to head. Russians didnt got that. Imagine white snow all around enemy, and brown enemy uniforms. Pretty easy to spot right?

-Finns ski-troops were important for surrounding enemy, add them campaing map movement speed 2-3 times faster

Ok bro, dunno where to get started. It is cool to have history-enthusiast Finn here (I'm a Finn also). It would also be cool if a submod with finland playable would be made (and why not, if I find myself some extra time, I could at least contribute). Links and facts you provided are, however some 20 years after this mod's timeframe. Finnish military was built in 1918 around jägers (who you correctly mentioned), but the army itself was low quality conscript mob. Weapons they used were acquired solely from disarmed russian garrisons.
Seems that you confuse finnish civil war of 1918, in which the jägers fought against russian and finnish communists, with Winter War (fought 1939-40). Winter war is very interesting, but better and easier to implement in this mod would be the challenging campaign of bringing finland it's independence in years 1917 and 1918. Last, the Estonians had their very own independence war (so they indeed fought), and they even got help from finnish volunteers.

Well I think none of Baltic states fought as independent countries in WW1. But at least Lithuania's first fight was after we declared independence we were attacked by Red Army in 1918 December and WW1 lasted till November 1918. So It's probably not worth to include any of Baltic states (or at least Lithuania if latvia or estonia were fighting durning WW1). Though that would be cool as I am Lithuanian myself.

Well It would still be cool to do that thogh fighting as any baltic nation would be extremely difficult ,the red army made it almost to the Estonian capital but then fortunately the British arrived and helped us out a little.

And the fact that baltic countries didn't fight in The Great War itself shouldn't stop people making their own submods with those countries as playable

oh.... my country is Nepal... yeah... and it's between China (Tibet) and India.... it's a small country between 2 very big and infamous nations so yeah most people don't even know it exists....
if I'd be famous then it'd be for the fact that it's where the Gurkha's are from......

I believe the team has planned to put Gurkhas in the mod, I saw it discussed somewhere.

Well Latvian, Estonian and Polish wars of independence was after end of WW1. And Lithuania in 1918 was neutral to everyone. So none of them where fighting in WW1. Though that would be nice to see Baltic states as emergent nations. But I don't even think it's possible to make them emergent in NTW.
