I AM MISTAKEN? You obvoisly don't know about the Baltic crusades. Even today they're renowned for their brutality. The worst part is that they did this mostly by "divide and conquer", as they weren't able to defeat any of the northern Baltic kingdoms decisevily by themselves, they instead used the hostile relations between them to weaken and destroy all of them.


And I forgot to mention the fact that they treated even their former allies as subhuman, looted and slaughtered any settlements they subdued, making the local populace their serfs - who, ofcourse, were treated far worse than the serfs in their homeland.
