Default This is the only total war i regret buying.

This is the only total war that i regret buying.

There are several reasons why i regret buying it.

    1. This game is boring.

This game is so boring you wouldnt believe CA would of made it. But they did it alright. Every clan is the same, so when you go onto the campaign mode of the game and you see "Chosakabe, Shimazu, Hattori" to pick from all you think of is: "Where should i start off on the map this time?" The little bonuses for each clan hardly make a difference. In Rome/Medieval theres a huge diversity between units/strengths and weaknesses when it comes to comparing factions. But this, they just keep everything the same except they nerf the factions a little big e.g. reduced upkeep for archers/cav/charge bonus/2% sucess on agents or w/e

    2. This game is not really moddable
The main reason i bought Rome Total War (which was in 2007 btw) is because all of the mods. I mean, you could have a lord of the rings strategy game mod in it and im quite a lotr fan, you could have a asian setting mod, you could have loads of different settings in it, it was like 10 games in 1.

    3. I dont really like the fact it's only set in japan

It's based on 1 country. in Rome it's based on like.. 20 countries? I mean on top left/right is unplayable, why didnt they a couple of factions there that you could possible invade like what they did in medieval 2 total war they had a small area of native america you could take over just as like a little bonus feature.

    Conclusion:

I just dont like shogun 2 total war. I love the graphics, trade system and the ai, however the ai can be stupid somtimes but the only think i care about in a game itself is the gameplay and thats just repetitive. It's like playing call of duty with just 1 gun but with different scopes for every country, it's like playing need for speed with just 1 car but different locations/slight modifications, it's like going to the ice cream truck that only has 1 flavour but different cone sizes,

I mean, why didnt they just give us a Rome 2: Total war. rome/medieval made the total franchise (my personal opinion) but CA has just been going down hill since empire which was just infested with bugs and awful ai, this game. shogun 2 total is just infested with repetitive gameplay. and btw sorry for saying "boring/repetive" over and over again i just wrote what came to my head at the time i didn't spend time on this little "rant" as you would call it :L

And just to clarify i'v played all the total war games except the first shogun

As much as I don't want to agree with this, I really can't help but agree.

I've played several mid-long term campaigns, and frankly I'm finding myself forcing myself to enjoy this, I'm even a little hesitant tot start putting in the time to make the mods I had planned, because I'm just plain bored.

Every campaign basically 'feels' the same.

Even in NTW, despite the fact that the campaign usually played out the same way each time, there was just so much more to do, and so much more variety. BUt in STW2, despite different facitons coming to power, every campaign just feels the same.

I really can't believe that I'm actually bored with a TW game just a little over two weeks in.

Doesn't feel the same to me, I love this game; 50 hours in so far. I'm going for some early Christian action now to make Shikoku a Christian stronghold.

That's what you get, when you don't look into a game's setting before buying it. Although, the Shogun part of Shogun 2 Total War should have been a very clear "warning" of what the game contained.

I have played beyond the 100 hour mark and I am still thoroughly enjoying the game and its setting. This is, after all, the TW game with most historical accuracy to date.

Oh please not such a thread again

You bought a game called "Shogun" and you want to tell us you did not know where the game would take place?

I'm sort of forced to agree with this. If you know coming in that you

    A. Don't like / are not interested in Japanese history

    and

    B. Know it's set in the Sengoku Jidai, and features only ONE country

Then it seems a little silly to regret buying a game because of a lack of diversity in the units and a lack of interest in the time period.

As for moddability - that argument flew a lot better before ETW, before we realized the lack of mod support. 2 years (and a full expansion / game, NTW) later, I don't think it holds as much weight. I played and loved mods for MTW, RTW, and M2TW as much as the next guy (particularly SPQR, SS, and TATW) but I bought Shogun 2 fully expecting small mods at best.

Not saying its irrational to be bored / regretful right now, just a bit strange to be surprised that you are, all things considered.

Lol. i knew it was going to be japan, i actually like the japanese culture and i've been getting the hype for Shogun 2 total war ever since i saw the first trailers, it just lacks the replaybility as it does in its predecessors and i dont think you can really argue with that :/

Default This is the only thread i regret opening

This is the only thread that i regret opening.

There are several reasons why i regret opening it.

    1. This thread is boring.

This thread is so boring you wouldnt believe the OP would of made it. But they did it alright. Every post is the same, so when you go onto the first page of the thread and you see "some guy, some other guy, i dont know some guy too probably" posting all you think of is: "Why can't i just kill them for posting?" The little jokes for each post hardly make a difference. In less threads theres a huge diversity between posts and and jokes when it comes to comparing posts. But this, they just keep everything the same except they blah blah blah boring.

    2. This thread is not really moddable
The main reason i opened this thread (which was like five minutes ago btw) is because i wanted to replace the posts with pictures of dicks. I mean, you could have a lord of the rings dick in it and im quite a lotr fan, you could have a asian dick, you could have loads of different dicks in it, it was like 10 threads in 1.

    3. I dont really like the fact it's only set in lower case with spelling and grammar

It's based on 1 style. in other threads it's based on like.. 2 styles? I mean on top left/right is unreadable, why didnt they a ing capitalize and spell right that you could possibly read like what they did in not threads they had a small area of stupid you could read over just as like a little bonus feature.

    Conclusion:

I just dont like this ing thread. I love the forum, posting and the dicks, however the dicks can be stupid somtimes but the only think i care about in a thread itself is the posts and thats just repetitive. It's like playing call of duty with just 1 dick but with different condoms for every country, it's like playing need for speed with just 1 car but different locations/slight modifications, it's like going to the ice cream truck that only has 1 flavour but different cone sizes,

I mean, why didnt they just give us exactly the same dicks as last time. dicks made the total thread (my personal opinion) but this forum has just been going down hill since it started which was just infested with stupid and posts, this thread. its total is just infested with repetitive posts. and btw sorry for saying "boring/repetive" over and over again i just wrote what came to my head at the time i didn't spend time on this little "rant" as you would call it :L

And just to clarify i'v read none of the posts because they are boring and repetitive and the op is stupid and boring

Seriously, why did you buy it then? It's set in Japan and all it's feudal history.

If you like Japanese culture than you really should have been all the more informed on the contents of the game.

And I can argue with it actually. I find this game much more replayable than Empire.

Yeah, any game is more replayable than empire.. no big achievement for shogun there :/

The main draw of this game to me is Medieval japanese culture, the Civil war sengoku Jidai and the historic figures of that period, thats why Im still enjoying Shogun 2 with its improved AI and gameplay.

Admit it, you were only interested in Japanese culture, but that interest wasnt enough to keep yourself attached to the game. Without that favor, it lost half the fun since you cant come to convince yourself why all factions are the same nor can you see great attention to detail & polish-ness (compared to other TW) CA has put into the game.
