Default Endorsement of Faustus Imperious for Tribune

Fellow Citizens of Rome I come to you to announce my intention to not run for Tribune again in the coming year, instead I in-trust Senator Faustus Imperious with the status of protector of the people.

Though inexperienced he has proven himself loyal to the Republic and has avoided involvement with the petty party politics that have nearly torn apart the Senate.

I trust in his ability to Protect the rights and status of the Plebeian class in a fair and unbiased manor and prevent the rise of would-be tyrants.

    That is all.

Faustus watched as he was publicly endorsed by the former Tribune. Faustus agreed with what the Tribune has said, he was inexperienced but he was the nephew of a Consul, despite what people thought of his uncle, it stands for something. Faustus nodded as the Tribune stepped down. "You have my thanks."

The crowd begins to talk about what the pleb said. some mutter that they will vote for the man. others wonder aloud why this man even speaks on behalf of the other tribune. But a lone servant in the back realizes that the man is the tribune the servant then comes forward to speak

" Tribune Auls !!! Why do you not run for Tribune again. We have heard of what you had did for the republic why do you endorse someone else ?. By the gods we need you in the Senate to keep order. We want you as our Tribune once again !!!." the servant then falls to the ground tired and looking up at the sky

The crowd grumbles and goes back to their daily business. Not really knowing how they should respond or if they should respond to the man . Some wonder though why the tribune is not running again . They could care less about the servant that fell to the ground the crowd looks at the man that spoke in support.

" What as Tribune will you do for the people of Rome ! " a brave slave asked as he gathered some supply from a nearby pleb. He looks like a Slave of a rich noble or a wealthy pleb

Faustus smiled and placed his hand on the mans shoulder. "Gladly, I will bring some wine from my uncles home." Faustus then turned to the crowd which met him with questions. "People of Rome, I will do for Rome what needs to be done, it is that simple." Faustus paused and smiled, he stared at the man who had posed the question. "Rome needs to remember the Republic which it was founded upon, making sure that no one in the Senate does not attempt to create another monarchy...another dictatorship of the elite." Faustus nodded as some people cheered, but not that many. "I will do for the people as is asked of the Plebeian Council, I cannot guarantee that every need will be met right away...that is a promise I will not make because I cannot keep it....but anything the Council or anyone of you bring to me...I will fight for, as long as it benefits the people and the Republic."

The slave smiled as he listened to the man. His only wish was to be free. After all it has been a year since he was sold to that servant and the master of the house has no idea that he has a teenage slave working for him as the servant never told the head of the house anything about him. He wished he could be free and to be a roman. He worked on so many tasks for the servant that he was built now. He looked more like a young man then someone that is only 14 years

" I have three questions. When will the games be held once again ?. It has been many months since a arena match has taken place or anything of entertainment . Will us Slaves be able to join the army and fight for the Republic ?. will you fight for slaves as well as plebs ? "

Some in the crowd looked at the slave with wonder and awe. Others swore that once the person left they will kill the slave for ever suggesting something like that. Either way he was going either die in the army or in the streets. Slaves had no rights in the republic. But it could not hurt to ask

Faustus listened to the man, he knew little of the serious problems of the slaves in Rome but he understood that they were members of the Republic...at least, in a sense they lived here. "I cannot answer that honestly, therefore I will not because I cannot." Faustus however did concoct a plan within his mind in a matter of moments. "Perhaps...I will propose that slaves can serve within the army and if they fulfill their required--" Faustus wanted to gauge the response of the crowd, however the former Tribune interrupted the gathering by asking the slave a question.

The slave smiled as he heard this. Maybe he could earn his freedom if he served in the army. The slaves in the crowd began to cheer. but that was short lived as their masters came around with whips and began to beat them senseless in front of everyone. The slaves then went back to work knowing that their punishment was going to be bad once they returned home

The slave responded to the tribune
" My master is only a servant in the household. He has yet told his master of me. The home i live in his " He was about to say which family he worked for when a pleb next to him punched him in the face and began to beat him senseless. Soon others began to beat and whip him as he fell to the floor in pain . Soon they began to drag him to the the center and towards where the tribune of the people was before.

They let him go and began to step on him and walk on him . The pleb began to speak " We do not want slaves to be free. This is what we think of your question. This is what we think of when we hear that slaves may be free. They do not deserve to be free. So if you trustfully want to be the voice of the people then you will not listen to this slave. " They finally let go of the slave. But he was so bloody and brused that he looked more like a corpse then a person

The crowd looked at the Tribune and then went back to the slave and began to beat him up some more . Someone in the crowd spoke up. He sounded angry when he moved towards the tribune and asked" Why should we get off him ?. He is slave Tribune and not a Roman Citizen. so unless you give us valid reason to stop beating him up. We will keep on doing so till he is dead or badly beaten "

The man move towards the slave and began to punch and stomp on the slaves body. He then began to bash the slaves head on the ground hard. The crowd went towards the slave and began to savagely beat the slave up. One of the plebs took out a knife and move towards the front of the crowd. Once their he began to slowly cut the Slaves skin with a knife. starting with his legs . The crowd was going to skin alive the slave if they had to

The Troublemakers return and cheer as the man begins to skin the Slave alive " Tribune This is our answer to anyone that dares Give these slaves some freedom. To anyone that gives these slaves what they want. That goes to your successor also "

Faustus didn't say a word. "The slaves have every right to freedom as you do...they just have to fight and die for it unlike some of us." Faustus was not taking the side of the slave, but he was not taking the side of the assailants. "Leave the slave, be bigger men then him, be a Roman and show him Roman values...or you'll have people calling us swine from the west. Is that what you want? The Roman name to be stained?"

The Slave screamed out in agony and pain as he felt the blade touch his skin. The crowd continued to beat the slave and bang his head as one of their own skinned him alive. They where angry as they listened to the person that the Tribune Endorsed . They continued to beat the slave and did not care what would happen after they killed the slaves.

another pleb shouted " lets beat all the slaves up and teach them a lesson. Lets gather the slaves in this very square and kill them also by skinning them alive"
. The other slaves in the market wanted to run but they could not as the mob grabbed them and tossed them to the ground and began to beat them senseless. They where going to have their voices heard and would do anything to have that happen. They wanted entertainment they wanted elections .

A Man approached the Tribune " Will you defend this mob agaist the owners of the Slave ?. You are our tribune i thought it was your right to defend the people from harm from the rich folks called Patricians ?. Now you say you wont. Are you truly for the people or not ? "

They are breaking the law,not only that, the owner of the slave is a servant and therefore likely a Plebeian.

A Man in the mob turned to answer the Tribune. " The man was a Servant ?. How could the owner of the slave be a servant ?. How did this servant pay for this Slave. And we know we broke the law and we might face death now. But at least we had a chance to prove to ourselves that we will not be happy if the slaves got freedom "

But the rest of the mob could care less and began to skin the slaves legs. By now the masters of the slaves where coming to see what was happening and where horrified of what the mob was doing to their Merchandise. Some wondered where the Authority where to put a stop to this maddess. But they assumed nobody cared and could only wondered how much money they lost on the dead slaves. and what legal action they could take to get the money back.

The mob Decided it was best to leave and left the Slave on the ground beaten and bloody . The slave Groaned in pain
