    Default Temeraire:Total War

Temeraire:Total War is mod for Medieval II:Total War-Kingdoms.It is based on Naomi Novik's "Temeraire" fiction books. It's set in Napoleon time, but is won't be based whole on Napoleon himself,it will be based of air forces-dragons...Mod will include few campaigns, with a significant world event in that period, including Napoleonic wars campaign, Coalition wars campaign...

    We need all your help!

If you are researcher,mapper,modeler,2D artist, animator or anything else, and you'd like to join team, send me a PM.Also if you have an idea or suggestion, please write it...We need your help with making dragon system.

Naomi's dragons are different because they have their own crews (like flying ships). They have special abilities like spitting acid, fire or water, and Divine wind(Celestial dragons). They fight in formation (about 7 in formation),and we will probably count one formation like one unit.Still we need to make dragon models and animation for their attacking.

It's going to be "walking dragon".Model will be walking, but it will look like it's flying.

Still nigh impossible and even if you make it, the dragon will still act as walking, that is, no pass over walls, will trample everything he crosses through, and the melee will look ridiculus.

Why dont you.... omit the dragons anyways? Wont hurt to be dragonless. Also... show some of your work, some progress.

I've actually been experimenting with flying units, and I actually think it might be possible (just a little bit clunky) since unit collision and virtually everything is determined by the model's place in the currently playing animation ( I discovered this after successfully getting a unit to roll like a boulder in my mod). I'll not get hopes up though, but I'll be sure to give you any information I can on the matter if I figure it out.

Yeah but its still NOT a flying unit. It might look like it after a lot of work, but it still not, it still (if not virtually) walks on the terrain. So you get your first awkward moment when it gets stuck on a wall or cant go over a river etc etc etc.

Have you played Thera? Thera has something like a flying unit. In the future my mod will also have dragons. Do not believe this guy about units not being able to fly, you can do it.

Flying units not being able to go over walls is indeed a problem I ran into (they do go over rivers fine though), though I think it's because my flying animation was not high enough. I think if I just made them fly higher in an animation though they'd go over, since again as I said collision is determined by the model's position in an animation relative to the origin of the axis (in most cases is about 0.64 off the ground where the pelvis joint normally is). The unit's physical mesh would be high enough to not collide with walls and units on the ground would not register collision with it either.

Forgive my utter lack of understanding on Medieval 2 modding, but surely you could give it an animation which resembles the unit steadily beating its wings in order to fly higher (under the same animation name as the ladder climbing one for humans) and then give it the ability to climb a wall without the need for a ladder?

That's the beauty of animation, you can do almost anything but it requires a lot of work. I wish you good luck Spartan. Maybe you could ask help from fantasy mods such as CoW, THERA or TATW

I always thought that it is possible to make high model, with unvisiable lower part of body,so you can see only upper part ,which will have flying animation. That that dragon gets a bit down, and attack people with it's claws. Also I need animation when fighting is dragon to dragon. Is this possible?

I don't think you can do another set of animation when there's a fight between dragon vs dragon. You can only assign one set of animation per weapon but I think the game cannot allow to change a melee animation without changing weapon, they couldn't recognize an enemy that way. If it's possible, then it would be a huge amount of work to do that but I don't think it's possible I'm afraid.

    HEY IS ANYONE STILL HERE?

Im going to preface this by saying, I have never played empire total war, and I am not a programmer at all.

That said, I had an Idea that might actually make this mod possible with out remaking the game. In napoleon total war their is real time navel battles, so could we, instead of making air units, could we make navel unites that look like dragons, can move across the land on the campaign map, and then for fights we just have them fight on their own "air"(sea) map.

What do yall think? is this doable, and is their anyone still out their who wants to work on this?
