Default CraigTW promises news on patch soon

    http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/13928-News-on-the-next-patch!/page3

(Its buried in a locked thread I stumbled across, and ironically started on April 1st by some comedic genius who said the patch was out, on April Fools Day...yeah hilarious, never saw that one coming.)

Here's what CraigTW said today (4/5/2011):

    ================
    Hi guys,

We're working hard on a list of changes for the next patch, which we'll publish soon in the official patch update thread.

    Thanks,

    Craig.
    ================

Here's the Official Patch Update thread:

    http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...ending-version

In retrospect, he doesn't mention what we're all waiting for, AA, DX11, etc. So this could be an epic morale fail if the notes say "added a facial mole to every fourth spearman." or some other nonsense.

    Good to know thanks!

I hope by "soon" he means next week

Not getting it. They're talking about version 1.2. My steam game still shows version 1.0...

Same as everyone else, and ETW was the same I think. I think version number and build number are different.

Coolbeans Op. Would be nice to know about some DLC also. I want more Shogun 2 stuff! If CA would ad a free unit... or cool new feature with each patch that would nice.

CA`s version of `soon` can be very subjective. Also their 1.2 patch is useless for Single Players- not interested.

...im so glad someone else said it first

Those looks fine to and most ppl couldn't care less about it , they should concentrate on more important things.
have to second this and reiterate there are some serious nasty little crashes and bugs running around that need fixing first.

A free unit, or some other obvious pleasantry each major patch would be a good idea to sweeten the taste of downloading and Steam. Patches are repair jobs - not a gift from the developer. So it'd be nice to have a gift, especially when it's so easy to do a reskin or some such and one has to DL the DLC even if you have no intention of ever buying it - which is a damn cheek imo.

Yeah a free unit with each patch will happen If they do that Shogun2 will have more units than Empire by the end of the year...or more likely be patched only once and at the end of the year, with a new unit for the campaign- Loan Sword Ashigaru

I hope it's a list of singleplayer fixes, and not more multiplayer focused stuff.

Why? Multiplayer is almost broken...Multiplayer campaigns end abruptly with end turn bugs and De-sync issues before a random battle..causing the campaign to be trashed completely..Not to mention the broken server browser and match making that fails hardcore...I mean I'm all for fixing bugs...but Multiplayer needs to be on a playable level first and foremost.

Because TW is a singleplayer franchise. Multiplayer shouldnt be anything like a priority untill singleplayer (which will also effect multiplayer battle and campaign maps) is under control. Which it is not.

Tough to get any more ambiguous than that. So "soon" we should have a list of changes. Still no news on a release date for the patch or if it will have DX11 support. I for one am shocked, SHOCKED!, that CA will not be releasing a DX11 patch one month after the game as promised.

    What?

    Hi all,

We want Shogun 2’s Directx 11 experience to be as strong as possible. Therefore following extensive testing and gamer feedback, CA and SEGA decided to implement full DX11 functionality shortly after Shogun 2’s release date. This would allow us to work a little longer on polishing DX 11 without delaying the core game experience for fans.

We're anticipating that we'll patch in this functionality 2-4 weeks after release of the game to ensure the game plays great on day one.

    Thanks,

    CraigTW
    The Creative Assembly.
Oh, and another piece of shocking evidence....

    Hi guys,

It is worth noting that we delayed DX11 not to annoy anyone (this is never our intention, and we of course apologise if it has), but to deliver it to the best of our ability. We are very proud of Shogun 2 and are confident that you will still have a great experience with the game's many features. Please give it a chance on its own merits and be assured that we will get DX11 to you within the next 2-4 weeks. Thank you for your patience.

    Kind regards,

We had some reviewers say that they played it on a DX11 build that apparently ran very well with all the bells and whistles turned on, and relatively crashfree.

So i'm just wondering, if it is running okay at some systems, why not release a beta patch to further help iron out the kinks?
Wouldn't that just be for the best of everyone? Good for us, getting a taste if it's worth waiting for or not, and good for us again + the devs in getting more bugreports and polish done.

I think CA could gain an excrement-load from starting with beta patches, as some other games have done.
It is clear that alot of patches CA produce still has issues, why not take the help of the rabid fans frothing at their mouthes?
It worked very well for a ton of other games, it would work great here as well.

Imagine the PR value of a DX11 patch, having been in beta, that you KNOW is going to be good due to the back and forth feedback. Compared to a shadowy mystery DX11 patch we know nothing about.
    Anyone agree?

L O L Pending Changelog? Im am highly anticipating how well the "patch" will correllate with the community's complaints/issues/requests. However, as a personal flaw, I have already assumed
