This was from a different thread...just wanted to post in here to maybe get someone thinking about it...?

will bold out the things I personally think are easily doable for some of you brilliant modders out there..

_____________
1:
Religion...
I think it would be fan-freaking-tastic to not just deal with the norms of the time, but possibly rewrite history...decide your faction wants to give the finger to Rome and become an offical pagan religion..hell, choose even from there..which flavor of paganism, or buddism, etc...call your capitol the holy city, then spread your specific religion along and force people to adopt your way of thinking by priests (or monks, holy people, whatever) or by the sword..however you want it to be.

How cool would it be to eventually conquor the worlds faith and have celtic pagan gods as the offical world religion. Hail Thor!

heh

ok, so, thats number 1...the possibilities are endless with that...from new styles of crusades, perhaps new units fitting of a cleric of whatever religion, new methods of spreading the faith into other factions, etc...

2:

Family Issues:
LesboLady:
Your princess has decided she likes other women (due to the fact she stood beside another lady on the map for more than 2 turns...they..engaged in diplomacy) and has decided to not accept or ask for a hand in marriage due to her different focus. Bonus, you potentially gain a new lady in your family tree (shown as married), negative...no child will ever come from either of them..so, dead line, however, more diplomatic ability while the two are alive
Alternatively, could just make it as an ancillary ("girlfriend")
Could also do that with men, however, the time period was pretty rough on overtly homosexual men..they tended to die if they were in full flame mode..so such traits were hidden..they would have a wife, but their chances of child birth would be very low due to..not alot of time on the field. (could make it a 20% chance of impregnation, then after 1 offspring, remove all chances as it was done, enough of that)

3: Rebirth of a faction
For campaign maps...should a settlement go rebel after X amount of turns, in a region where the native faction has been wiped out, there is a chance they return..big flashy sign of how the people of faction X have reformed under their old flag and a new king...would be nice to let my first pain in the arse early game genocide mission return in late game just for posterity...I miss ya Scotland

4: Ladies (again)
More options...for now, a lady can either trade maps with crusty old diplomats, or try to get married...why not more options? Where is the "flirt" with a general that may increase her charm and/or decrease his loyalty? where is the option to "bed" another and give a major boost to charm, or give her some bad traits if things go wrong...have him defect or at least give him bad traits (especially if he is already married and gets the adultress trait), etc...would also make sense having the princess/lady with the secret lover ancillary (there is alot of potential roleplay and actual functional tactics that can go with that). Suddenly a lady in your lands is no longer just some harmless eye candy, but potentially a very dangerous weapon employeed by a different faction...even potential disease spreading (got a plagued princess that bedded one of your generals...boom, city is hit)
But ya, the point is, make the ladies exceptionally functional...use their charms as a weapon, give logical ways for them to increase charm (sure...you became more charming when asking for tribute from some faction...not). Also, could add more traits and ancillaries based on these new functions...prostitute (get a king to bed you and you got some good blackmail tribute coming your way for a few turns).

Could also make a different unit all together instead of it being royal blood...make a "courtesan" (like a spy but with different options akin to her profession). That may be the better option actually considering there are some mods out there that could clash with a new reworking of the princess/lady traits and functions.....key is though, depth..the power of the pretty is not to be underestimated.

4: First person view...meh, one can dream

5: ambiance civilians in cities runing for their lives...just tiny dots of people freaking out and running...small grayed out people..would be neat to see a bunch of arabic people screaming and running away as my knights are slowly tromping through Cairo...or italian citizens freaking out when I decide its time to sack Rome, etc...that however is work for a proper development team verses someones mod...meh, maybe medieval 3 devs will consider it

6: Random roleplay for empires:
Screen flashes up: Joe and Jack have a land issue in city X. choosing one way will net you some cash but will increase unrest for 10 turns, or going the opposite way may have your population happy and increase trade, however will bring down the governor or faction leaders authority...etc...really complex issues of day to day rule of land..could turn it into a whole sub storyline if it is written complex enough (you sided with the farmers over the milita, this will trigger new events based on your new levels of authority or chivery/dread. options should effect the chiv/dread or authority and the further away from neutral, the more beneficial/consequencial they become...such as a leader with max chiv may get the dilemma to have tried and executed their top general for some crime...the reward will be a happy population and chiv at the expense of losing your best general, and all other generals and fam members losing a significant amount of loyalty (since they can't rely on you to protect their arse from their wayward ways)
refusal may give major hits to the chiv, authority, etc...but a big boost to the person in questions loyalty (not to mention he remains alive) and the rest of the living family members getting some loyalty.

Again, alot of possibilities for this..and it seems very doable by a sharp modder with a bit of roleplay in mind.

7: Rogue army making (pirates)
Ability to convert an entire army into a controllable rebel army...you could then attack your allies and ransack their settlements/people/etc without it leading back to you..however, if you took over a settlement, it would simply become rebel verses your faction (and potentially lose the army under your control...cant think of a way to keep an army once they enter into a rebel city)...but would be good for a large hoard of rebels to go and sweep away all units outside of cities in a area you plan on taking over soon without declaring war...also, will make you wonder if that rebel army attacking you is proper rebels, or your allies planning on something soon. Issue here is that I don't see the AI being clever enough to use this, so it may be pretty one sided as to its use and the computer never really taking advantage of this..still, worth a shot

8: Contests:
Your kingdom has been invited to join in a contest: arts...lady of the court...athletics...etc. every 10 years or so, results depend on attributes such as culture, economic, average charm rating of ladies, etc...winners recieve a across the board increase in relations across the board by 1 or 2, reputation dramatically improved (go up 2-3 spots as everyone wants to be friends, or at least not hate as much, the winners), etc...of course it costs a pretty penny to enter and to come in last place would mean relations getting hit, authority being hit for leader, etc.
Could even do a gladiator battle of sorts...have 2 turns to build the best army you can and then join in the tournament (same as a crusade joining) and fight. Winner gets all troops back to full health and goes on to the next, loser gets surviving troops back (released)...all generals are alive, but battle scarred and perhaps a bit sheepish unless they made it to at least the finals). Winner faction gets some really great anchillary and boasting rights

So, whatcha think...personally, the roleplay and new unit "courtesan" unit sounds easy enough considering what some of you modders have already done..anyhow, just wanted to toss that out there for anyone whom still loves this game but wants a bit more depth and tactical roleplay decisions.
