MED2 New install not running, asking for correct disc

Hi folks.

My game is second hand from a retail store, I have had it running before and it worked fine. Disc one is lightly scratched but nothing too drastic - and it installs the game without problems.

With Disc 1 in the dvd drive, double clicking on the desktop shortcut, I get 'Please insert the correct CD/DVD ROM'. This is a vanilla install with no patches as yet.

After looking here on this forum and the net in general, it looks like there is some sort of security issue but I'm not familiar with it or with letting a third party have access to my HD.

Any tips or suggestions very much appreciated - I've included my dxdiag.

Thanks for the reply.

Since I last had it on this system, this pc has gone through a reformat of the HD. Would I still need to do a manual uninstall after that?

I have un-installed and re-installed this time also in an attempt to get it running but to no avail.

The only copy protection is SecuRom but it usually waits until later to play with you. But there is still that chance.

Have you changed any hardware besides reformatting your harddrive?

Did you reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers, by chance?
