Can't start the game

I actually have no idea what I've done now... Everything worked fine for about two to three weeks ago, but now I can't even start a battle! The title of this thead can be a little misunderstanding, because I can start the game, but not a custom battle. After the loading screen after I've started a custom battle (chosen teams, units, etc) I can change the starting positionings of my troops. But when I press "Start deployment" I get a CTD.
If I install the 1.4.4 version of CoW, I can't even get past the first loading screen of the whole game!
Could someone help me?

Ps. I hope this post wasn't too confusing and that you got everything I wrote... And sorry for my bad english!

E: After choosing Chaos Storm and selecting a team, the game jumps back to the Main menu, not letting me to choose Chaos Storm again anymore...

you did not install the english patch, thats why...unless i am misunderstanding.

It is quite possible, I haven't... I'll try installing it later today when I get home.

Nope, didn't work. I know there's something I've done, but no sure what.
