How long does invasions last?

Once again, basically what the title suggests - how long does invasions called by Sauron(through another faction) last?

I've recently had the invasion called upon me at Bree, and it's kind off stretching my economy having to force up an army from scratch when I had a rather balanced economy on beforehand. As of yet I've destroyed four stacks attacking my capital, and I'm just wondering if they will ever stop or if they simply has to take the settlement which has been invasion called upon.

I know I just could let them take the city and retake it thereafter, but I'm not a fan of working around events in a cheap way(which is what I think that would be).

The invasion will end once all the invasion armies are defeated. Can be annoying sometimes as its possible for an invasion army to get stuck in places and never reach the target, as happened in my last campaign. Had to turn off fog of war and send a force to destroy it.

The Crusades in vanilla lasts for 30 turns. I suppose an invasion is the same.

The invasion will end when you kill all the invading generals/family members, or when the turn limit expires. The easiest way to end an invasion, IMHO, is to make it a priority to kill the general in battle (archer fire or cavalry charges to his side of the unit). If you capture a general, then you can always execute him, but some people are against executions as a good faction. Once the general is dead the remaining army will begin to disband on the campaign map. Sorry if you knew all of that, just being thorough.

The invasion doesn't end until all invading armies are dead, but there reaches a point where no new armies can join. So no, you won't be constantly besieged forever.

Hmm, but it's annoying that if I utterly destroy an army from a faction, then that same faction seem to be able to send another one. I've beaten armies from following factions; Isengard(2), Mordor, Rhun and Harad is on their way. What I'm not sure of however, is if those factions from far away(Mordor and Rhun) has sent another army. I'm pretty much taking over Isengard lands so I have them under control, but I can't say the same for those other factions.

Some general have probably left alive and thats why Invasion is still going It has nothing to do with armies, time or anything else than generals who have taken part to crusade.

About re-appearing armies:
When you beat crusading army the enemy general who is still living retreats very far away back to its main land. There it can get more troops and come again so be sure that you kill those generals every time.

When you beat crusading army the enemy general who is still living retreats very far away back to its main land. There it can get more troops and come again so be sure that you kill those generals every time.

I doubt that since the army I defeat is killed(they die on the campaign map) after I use execution. Which is something I usually hate to do, but I don't feel like having 20 small armies in my heartland. It has dented Aragorns 'respect' level though(naturally) .

In the reverse, if you kill all enemy generals of a stack which were besieging the city, you get the next turn another helping army, for free, even eventually you were not victorious! With luck, like this you can get reinforcement every turn (or this is a bug ). So, aim the generals, sacrifice for this.
