Default Something wrong with my turn times?

Hi, having an odd problem. I'm 120 turns or so into my Early Era campaign. In that time I've been able to watch two seasons of The West Wing, since the turn times take forever. I just did a stopwatch test and came up with 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

I figured I'd try to do something about it, so I fired up regular TWM2 and played for ten turns to see if it was a problem there too. Average end-turn time was two or three seconds; it was just flying by. I started SS again and made a new game, and the first few turns had average turn-times of 1 minute and 10-20 seconds. That is, 20-25 times as long.

I've turned all the graphics down low, I'm not showing AI moves and I don't have that supposedly demanding supply mod active. Just a clean 6.3 install with 6.4 patch on top.

    As for my system, I'm on W7 64-bit, QX9650@3.8Ghz CPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM, Radeon 5870 and a SSD where the game's installed.

Guess I'm just wondering, are you guys having similar turn times with 6.4? If this isn't normal, is there something I could do about it? Just seems odd that it would take so long, with what I consider a rather decent system.

SS is using a bungawunga-load of script that ups the turn time real good... the farther you go in the game, the longer the turn time gets, it has to do with all the checking for certain events and double check against every general and settlement in the game... the more factions alive/more generals/more agents = the longer the turn times get... I have quite fast turn times though, about a minute to two and a half at the slowest...

graphics don't matter much, but if you turn of "show AI moves" then it ups a little... also, you can install the Faster Turn Times sub-mod which is located in the sub mods folder... I think it is implemented with Meneths sub mod compilation also...

There isn't much to do about this... the problem have existed since SS came out... with the borderless window though, you can alt+tab out and surf the interwebz or watch movies instead... I actually read my university books while playing or watch a good movie...

I have a less powerful but similar computer to yours. Obviously I am using BGRIV and you are not, yet our early turn times are similar (about a minute). Could there be something wrong in your system? Maybe something else running?
