Default Give the Dwarves of the Orocarni some love

Four of the seven Fathers of the Dwarves awoke in the range. The northern end of the Orocarni was home to the Ironfists and Stiffbeards, and in the southern end of the range awoke the Blacklocks and the Stonefoots. Almost nothing is known of the histories of these four Houses, except that they each sent a contingent west to fight in The War of the Dwarves and Orcs in the late Third Age.
When looking at this information we can conclude that there was some connection between the dwarven clans in the west and those in the east.
My proposition would be to add two settlement on the Eastern edge off the map that are owned by dwarven rebels from the start. If the Dwarves would occupy this region maybe they should get access to some AOR units that excell fighting Rhûn. Now I'm not going to suggest mounting dwarves on horses or anything so please stick with me for just one more moment.
Wouldn't it be nice to give the dwarves a light armoured unit with medium attack and low defence to run down routing troops. In addition a heavy spear unit with spear and large shield might be handy to better whitstand the attacks of the Rhûnnic cavalry and have better mobility than the pikemen or vault wardens. A third unit could be a mdeium ranged unit with a repeating crossbow. This would mean a high rate of fire, but less damage, meant to keep the mounted archers at bay. I'm still thinking about a fourth unit to give them as many units as there are different clans
Those additions can't be supported by facts of any kind and require a little imagination BUT are not improbable as the Eastern dwarves had to adapt to the fighting styles of their Rhunnic enemies AND it might be an addition to the diversity of units when playing against Rhûn as the dwarves.

Just an idea which has been in my head for a while (ask Koultouras, he'll agree, I've been annoying him with this proposition earlier) and I just wanted to hear some opinions and if possible to gather some support to try and get this ingame. I'm not much of a modder but maybe the idea might stirr some more gifted people to do something with it.

Sounds like a nice idea, but AFAIK the Orocarni are far too far east of the map. And in addition to that I think the clans were even at war with each other?

Yes, it is VERY FAR East, well past all the lands that belong to Rhun, which only the most western part is shown in TATW. So it makes no sense to add them right smack dab in the middle of Rhun lands when they were no where near there. You would need an expanded map that encompasses all of Rhun first, which is too big.

Yes, some even speculate thats why Rhun was so well outfitted. The eastern dwarven smiths hooked them up.

Didn't the Eastern Dwarves fight FOR Sauron during the War of the Ring?

small number did, but it doesn't say that they belonged to any of the houses so it could be that those were some dwarf-wanderers...

I didn't really mean for them to be an idependant faction or anything, just have some settlement where you can call upon dwarven reïnforcements from the East. This could be simulated by giving them a long recruitment time (4 turns?) and small recruitment pool (2 max).
And the Rhunnic people didn't get their armour from the dwarves but from their own mines in the Orocarni, or at least that's what my sources said about it.

It's just a guess, but what do you think, who owned those mines before the Easterlings took those? In our sub-mod, in the Erebor dwarves' campaign, there will be a "quest" for these areas.... I just hope our map will soon be ready for this

I'm pretty sure that Tolkien never really stated this... so your source is probably making stuff up.

well all dwarves are smiths by trade and they sell the weapons they make. it doesn't make sence that those dwarves would sell their stuff to gobndor or someone on the west. but it does make sence for them selling it to Rhun, why not? money is money...

I am for any improvement of Dwarven faction and its unit variability (except repeating crossbows). What might be also possible is making these units mercenaries for Dwarves in that neutral land north from Rhun home teritory, if making them regular units would be too much violent.
