Er... The average hospital CT Scan gives a person a larger dosage of radiation than I believe most Japanese even received in the first place. Unless they were, quite literally, fooling around at the reactor site itself. And I'm not certain how radioactive someone has to be to actually spread it to those around them, but I'm rather certain it's a bit more radioactive than that. Otherwise we'd be keeping people on lockdown after their CT scans! The hysteria surrounding radiation is laughable at best, and downright pathetic at other times. And the media is excellent at playing into the fears of the ignorant.

I've lived a few miles from a nuclear reactor all my life (TMI) -- close enough that I can see the steam from the cooling towers from my front door -- so maybe I'm just jaded. I suppose I might feel differently if the thing had another partial meltdown in my own lifetime...

Although the happenings in Japan are indeed horrible, this is just not the right place where something like this should be discussed.
If you liked it to be discussed, you have to post things like that in the D & D section.
