Default CPU Usage Absymal in this Game

    EDIT:

Thought I would update this thread.

I got my Phenom II triple core to 4GHz today now that my new cooler arrived from newegg. Its perfectly stable as well. Monitoring temps with Hwmonitor and havent gotten any crashes after 2 hours of Bad Company 2 and an hour of Shogun 2.

However, FPS did not approve in Shogun 2 at all.

This leads me to believe I am GPU Bottlenecked. As such, I'll be upgrading my video card. I was always suspicious the issue was my CPU, but after this, Im 99% sure the problem is my video card.

This was during a 13 vs 13 Unit battle @ high settings WHILE UNITS WERE FIGHTING with large Unit sizes at 1024x768...at like 12FPS, not playable at all. I Had Task Manager running before even running Shogun 2, so I was able to screenshot immediately:

I believe you've already highlighted this many times, we know there is no multi-core support for S2 atm, its just maxing out one core. All you can do is wait and see if it gets patched.

You don't have to make 10 threads.

Games works fine for me, 20 units vs 20 units, maybe its an XP thing:

If you can show us that kind of performance on a quad core, then I'll be content.

That's only a dual core bro...still i guess the same concept exists with multicore support

Sorry that I do not have a quad core, but the game does use multicore support and maybe it doesnt need 4 cores to run beautifully, its all in how they coded it bro. Not every game is coded the same way so stop thinking every game will use every core that you have.

Capricornius, what happens if you set your affinity to cores 1 & 2 (not 0) for S2TW?

Well, with my six cores the first core is at 90-100% and the rest are at 5-10% max.

Same, I have an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T OC to 3.5Ghz. 1st core is 100% pretty much, while the others go from around 5% to 20% max. I can't really complain though solidly smooth performance with everything maxed at 1920x1080 but would interesting to see if there'd be a fps boost or something if the other cores got a bit more action

I posted couple of posts about your GPU preference and i hope that you'll find my info satisfactory. Feel yourself free to ask any further.

And check my post on 6950 flashing link.

    Good luck,

    With my i5 2500k 4.0 ghz i see 25-55 percent usage.

Oh... stuff. Lots of random dormant crap that controls the audio, power settings, printer, and whatnot. Shogun 2 and Steam are the only processes that use 1% or more of the CPU.

Overclocking the northbridge on my CPU cleared up a lot of micro stutter lag when panning over units. Before the overclock the game would appear to slow down and the camera would slow down as I panned over units. Like my system was playing catch up with the game.

Its perfectly smooth during panning shots of units now and generally anything having to do with units being on screen is much smoother now.

However when they fight, the FPS still drops, but disabling shadows makes the battles playable.
