Default naval battles and movement - yes there are stategies

I have found that if you have three naval units and combine them into one fleet they get worse results than if you leave them as three separate fleets and attack the enemy fleet from three different directions at once. so don't combine your fleets, attack from many directions if possible!

    1. Are there any other suggested naval battle strategies (appart from using an admiral with experience and/or command stars)??? (There's another thread talking about grand strategy but it didn't say anything about battles)

    2. What's the best way to move troops across large expanses of sea? Is it possible to daisy-chain the fleets so the armies move right across a sea in one turn? It seems that moving an army onto a fleet stops the fleet from moving much.

1: I haven't noticed a huge difference. Although I do think I've seen a slight edge in at least attacking the enemy from two sides (front and rear) and assumed that attacking from the rear adds a big bonus, but the enemy turns around when you attack so you need to attack from both sides to achieve it.

2: No. Fleets use the armies movement points, if they move on one ship then get onto another ship, they'll be able to travel less distance than if they just stayed on the first ship.
